Regret A Home Purchase
Have you ever met someone who regretted a Home Purchase, if so what were the circumstances?
I bought a miniature horse farm and after that the economy went bad. When people are concerned about their day to day lives such as medicine, food, and utilities, buying miniature horses are pretty much low on their list of purchases. Regretting purchasing it perhaps it too strong to say. I see all of life experiences as a learning experience. But in retrospect it wasn't the best decision I made. Timing is truly everything.
If one is willing to go for a long term view, then land purchasing is a great investment. As someone wise once said, "they arent making any more of it". However, you have to be able and willing to ride out those short terms where the price in your area may have gone down for any number of reasons.
I bought a house back in '94 on a beautiful golf course. I lived off the 17th hole's tee box. This was a place where many snow-birds (Floridians that don't like the hot summers) went in the summer to get away from the Florida heat and play golf. Well, my company moved me from one state to the next and I had to sell immediately. Unfortunately for me, it was winter and that particular area wasnt selling well (and never did during winter). I took a 10% hit on my sale from my purchase price (and I got a good deal on that price at that time).

The farm is your second home or your home now? If your second possibly you can sell one and try to recover if you want to make a change. Are you using the farm to give tours? Too bad you did not go into something that could bring a return like cattle, but maybe you can still do that.
