The spider, thinking itself clever for shaking the thieves hold, is killed by the subsequent fire. It tries to retreat back further into the cave but is slain by the party.

Arrows, dagger, and magic missiles fly in hitting their target. The spider falls to the cave floor next to Val with a sick thud, then resumes its imp form.

The battle is over, the imp lying dead and the goblins have fled.

Lwentano:

Lwentano will go make sure the spider is dead before picking up the rock that has the light spell on it and searching around the cave looking for any signs of the Goblins and where they went. He will also be on the look out for any hidden passages or treasure anywhere around too.

Philo:

Philo, with bow at the ready, will cautiously investigate the rest of the chamber before returning and offering any first aid he can.

Myrrani:

Myrrani sighs and kneels, taking a brief rest.

Absent characters?

Del:

Del follows with Philo and Lwentano, bow at the ready to fire at any goblin he sees.

Aive:

Aive stands by near Myrrani and Val, keeping an eye out.

Lwentano, Philo, and Del search the cavern and find another tunnel at the back (south east corner). It leads east for 30 feet then opens into another cavern. No secret doors or treasure are found.

Myranni and Aive wait, resting from the battle. Philo returns and tends to Val trying to revive her. Val's eyes flitter as she wakes but then slips back into unconsciousness, then wakes up again a few seconds later. She is barley able to stand and still looks very bad.

Lwentano finds the spider / imp is definitely dead.

The party bunks down within the cavern. They rest for 8 hours and are undisturbed.

Anyone who is injured gains 1hp.

Del complains that he cannot see very clearly and has trouble keeping his balance. He has a giant red bump on his chest were the imp's stinger hit.

Aive resisted the secondary effects of his poison and is on the mend.

Val's temperature is still up but she is feeling better.

Lwentano has shaken his filth fever disease and is feeling ship shape.

Philo has managed to decode just a little of the text shrugging off some of his sleeping needs for it. He is able to decode 60 pages, I am going to summarize what is written to just the important information.

Journal pages 1-60:
It seems the book is some sort of journal so far. A mix of confessions and declarations from a mad budding wizard. The wizards name was Jul, he was a wild kid and ran away with a passing band of merchant wizards who made a living selling scrolls and such magical things to towns. He had been delightfully entertained by their magics and found the amount of gold they made, and lifestyle appealing.

Later Jul found out that they belonged to a bigger organization who called themselves, The Dark. He begins to talk about horrid rituals that he was an observer to, involving human sacrifice and torture.

No more can be translated until more time is spent on it.

Lwentano:

Now that most everyone has had time to rest Lwentano will see if everyone is ready to continue the search of this cave system. He believes that they still have treasure to find and Goblins to kill.

Philo:

Philo is ready to continue down the next tunnel when the others are rested & ready.

He will pack away his notes and inspect his weapons. Keeping his bow at the ready he stands waiting near the tunnel opening.

Myrrani:

Myrrani yawns and stretches as she awakens, wrapping her arms around herself and shivering. She looks at Del and Val sadly, and suggests maybe they should stay behind and recover, then moves forward with Aive, Lwentano, and Philo.

"I don't like it down here... It's too dark. I miss the sun."

She casts light upon the blade of her sickle so that it might serve also as a torch of sorts, and moves forward with the others.

Aive:

Moves forwards with Lwentano, Philo, and Myrrani

Del:

Stays back with Val and makes sure the others can safely retreat by holding the cavern.

Val:

The party heads further into the cave (save Val and Del). Walking down the tunnel at the back of the cave they enter into another cavern. There is a tiny bit of light shining threw the middle of the caverns ceiling but you can't see a direct opening / source.

The cavern smells very bad, it is damp and has small pools of water. There is a thin layer of dirt / mud covering the stone. You see muddy footprints of goblins everywhere, and a concentration of them in the center by the light source, but no goblins. There are areas in the corners where the goblins must have been going to the bathroom, small bones as well (probably rats), dot the cave floor.

If you search for secret doors or treasure there is none. The cavern is empty, it is about the same size as the one you just came from.

Once the cave has been dealt with and the party exits it, everyone will receive 1,600 exp. (I think this puts Myranni and Philo at level 2, and Lwentano and Aive halfway to level 3.) The scrolls the party have now are worth a good deal of gold and the bulk of the treasure here, though a little more of the cave is still to be searched.

Philo:

Philo attemts to stay in the shadowy areas and walk around the cavern walls. He will be searching for anything useful & unusual as well as trying to figure out where the goblins could have gone.
Search (+7) 15, 4, 10
Spot (+2) 10, 5, 8

Myrrani:

Myrrani holds the light up for the others to search by. She herself walks over to stand below the opening, sighing happily at the feel of the sun on her skin.

Lwentano:

I say we head back through the caves get Val out to the entrance we came in to recover and then go back to search the area that the ladder leads down. Lwentano wants to make sure there are no more Goblins in this cave.

Aive:

Aive agrees with the others

The party leaves Val and Del at the entrance of the cave and return to the ladder.

They move down into the cave below to investigate. Once down they find themselves in a small room. It has been set up to torture and sacrifice the goblins in ritual. There are lines on the floor of blood in the shape of a circle with arcane markings along its edges.

At the back of the chamber 3 goblins are tied together. They are near death and are too weak to do much of anything accept groan. They have arcane markings cut into them much like the ones lining the circle.
