Sir Garasthar will also get a fairly large stick to help him maintain balance in the water. He will follow Lwentano.
Swim Checks: 2, 7, 20, 5, 3, 20 (no modifiers)
The party members grab a big branch each and wade into the river. They must hold onto the log and paddle almost immediately as the river bank drops steeply. Once in the current of Blatuk river they feel the steady pull of its current.
Lwentano paddles along with some effort. He must swim strongly but is able to make a decent pace.
Sir Garasthar runs into some trouble with his branch. It is misshapen and hard to navigate in the current. It twists and turns a bit under him causing him to flounder every so often.
Sir Garasthar feels something brush against his leg. Was it his imagination or is something in the water with him. The dark water holds no answer and the shore is still some distance away (estimate: 40 feet / two rounds).

Praying to the One True God Sir Garasthar swims forward as fast as he can. He worries about something being in the water and prays that nothing is.
Lwentano and Sir Garasthar swim forth hurriedly. The water swirls around Sir Garasthar and he feels something brush against him again. He is almost nudged off his log but maintains.
They reach the shore, stepping onto it dripping wet.
From past knowledge Lwentano would know that the caves lie somewhere to the northwest (some 3-4 hours march which is also when it will be night). The time is evening and night will be coming soon. You are wet and the temperature is dropping. You are probably a bit tired from the swim. Traveling in wet armor will be tedious and straining.
What do the players wish to do?

You find dry wood is readily available in this rugged (more rocky) terrain. The woods on this side of the river are more sparse and dead trees dot the environment.
After an hour, just as you have dried, Lwentano hears a lone wolf howling in the distance (nw). This lone howl is followed by countless other howls, then silence persists. Lwentano's far hearing is soon drowned out by the chirp of crickets.

Lwentano will will make sure that more wood is ready to add to the fire through the night. Watches will need to be set up through the night. Lwentano will suggest he take second watch.
The wolves should stay away from the fire but if they do not then we will kill them.
