OOC: Ok when everyone is finished shopping, ready to move on and someone has informed Aive of what Grumar (who Aive knew nothing about) said he will spring his perhaps foolish idea into action.
The enemy of our enemy is our friend,
He will untie the goblin and speaks to it quickly.
"In your caves lay horrible beasts, beast that are brutally killing your brothers and sisters as we speak and your leader is to afraid to stand up against them! But we can stop all this! We wish to slay those beasts, before they grow too strong and destroy everything you know! But every ambush party that attacks us will only slow us down and cause more deaths for your kind by our blade and the beasts.
You have a chance and a choice here! You can become a hero amongst your kind! When you save countless lives that were doomed to an agonizing death by fearful choices of your leader, these people will turn to follow the brave and clever! You!
So if you want your brothers back, If you want to be more, and you want the best chance of survival then lead us through shoderoot and across blatuk free from ambush's to your enemy and we will destroy them and set your people free in your name! It's that or you can now run and return to them just to die!"
19, 15, Diplomacy (to befriend him and earn trust)
14, 18, Bluff (to make the promises of glory and death seem much truer and dramatic)
25, 13, Sense Motive (to see if he is going to help or turn on us)
(sorry for acting without consulting everyone, Aive is occasionally rash and impulsive)
Initially busy looking through the new batch of supplies he got in town (and for which he thanked Lwentano for the share from the sale), Valdalen leaps to his feet as Aive takes everyone by surprise, freeing the goblin.
"What the - by the gods do you want a gauntlet down your throat?!" he yells at the rogue, balling a fist and taking a partial step forward. The Paladin stops, curious, watching as the goblin doesn't immediately attack or run away but seems to be trying to listen and understand Aive. The youth remains quite skeptical. Surely Heironeous wouldn't will this - surely this wasn't a test? Of justice? Do goblins have justice? Does Heironeous have a sense of humor? Valdalen wondered.
"This creature... Gefuth... Is YOUR responsibility, then, trickster. He has so far provided information and been relatively civil - for a goblin - so I am willing to reluctantly entertain your experiment. But I predict your hopes and optimism are sorely misplaced, and you'd best hope your ribs or back aren't the first to find that out."
The Paladin turns to Gefuth, speaking slowly and punctuating the words with blunt body language. "Goblin, step out of line or betray us, and the rack will be too good for you. We do this as a matter of necessity, to save those of both our kinds, we need each other's help, but it doesn't make us friends and it doesn't mean we trust you."
Not knowing what else to do, Valdalen sits back down and takes out a needle and thread and few scraps of cloth and begins irritably sewing and stitching a monogram on his handkerchief, staying in practice with courtly handicrafts, as the party discusses direction.
"I'm in no particular hurry to return to Shaderoot proper any longer than we have to, but do think Cavall Hills needs investigated. A trip on a ferry sounds preferable to me, or pretty much anywhere else, somewhere new."
Lwentano will give each of the party members 7 gold for the sale of the items. He will buy 4 arrows to replace those he lost with the two extra gold. The rest of the 2 gold he will give to some of the children running about listening to their stories. As he arrives back at camp and sees the goblin free he will pull his sword.
Careful the prisoner has somehow released itself. Quick get some rope and tie it back while I keep it at bay with my sword.
I forgot to post that Grumar gave you a +1 longbow KNtoran, it is also masterwork so you can add an additional +1 strength damage to Lwentano's total damage. Hearing of your exploits with the bow of late he remembered having a magical one in storage he was waiting to give to someone worthy of it. The bow used to belong to a member of the church, who was a elf of excellent accuracy. Thanks for the information JPatt, I didn't realize you had already posted it, sorry. Masterwork/Magical Longbow: 1d8 (+1 magical att/dmg), (+1 strength dmg)

OOC: all magic items have to be masterworked to become magic wich overrides the masterworking, the ability that lets you add your strength is in the design, composite, If using a composite bow and you don't have the strength bonus it has you actually take a minus to attack roll because you are not strong enough to pull the string back all the way.
Aive steps infront of the goblin "its ok" he says as he motions with his hand for every one to lower their weapons and calm, waits a few seconds expecting hell to break loose and when it doesn't he begins talking to sir Valdalen,
"there is so much we can learn from him, Also much you could teach him! any paladin can turn a desperate human seeking direction into a follower but think how renown you could become if you could convert this creature, a goblin into a follower of Heironeous...
Each night you can share the ways of the worlds and gods with him, and at the end of our venture give him a choice. Who before you can even say they have tried.
He seems to understand two things, glory and fear
Teach him the glory of following Heironeous and the fear of betraying him.
It will take time but he will also learn through your actions and if its meant to be the gods will aide you.
A trickster I may be, I call them opportunities and you call them tests but rogues never let opportunities pass, what will you do?"
He turns to the goblin "you will lead us safely to the demons who are killing and stealing your kind?"
OOC: how many weapons do we have that can actually get past the damage reduction of the demon things?
