Del nods to Aive and keeps an eye on him and the surroundings, particularly the cave mouth, for any signs of movement. His bow is nocked. Del also is considering the types and numbers of tracks he has seen recently, and what he can see from his present location (he does not wish to leave cover presently). [Spot = 10 (4+6); Listen = 15 (9+6); Survival = 17 (12+5)]
OOC: I will be able to post tonight, but then I will be away for Friday through Monday, so look for my next post on Monday night. You have my stats if you need them. Generally, his input will be to move to the upper cave entrance, even though he is loath to trust a goblin. Given that he is an elf and has low light vision, he will certainly volunteer to go first into the cave (cautiously, with spot and listen rolls, as well as searching for traps upon entry and tracking roll to see what is there). Although, if the rogue wishes to enter first he will not argue it. He would protest if the goblin wanted to go in first.
OOC: KNtoran, Oliron skipped us to morning uneventfully. I think Aive's words are frustration at having to wait until it is safer.
Myrrani waits to follow behind Lwentano and Valdalen. While they are still far enough away from the cave for her voice to carry, she decides to try and get to know the Paladin, it wouldn't hurt to become friends with these people.
"Sir Paladin, if you do not mind my asking, what is your opinion of me? I realize I have not been here long, but perhaps long enough for a first impression."
OOC my last post was after oliron updated us, so after we slept
Valdalen keeps an eye out behind and to the sides of the party as the more nimble members lead, hopefully doing a good job of keeping the group unseen on their approach.
"Remember, we get in and secure the hostages first if possible, whoever they are, and strike only when needed, until we understand the situation and can make informed decisions - we don't do anybody any good if we all die. May Hieroneous protect us all!" says Val from the back, clasping a medallion and bowing head to send a prayer up to the God of Justice as the band of adventurers continues its journey onward toward the enemy.
Ok should I sneak up and check one of these things out or do we just wanna charge? either way we will need some light soon, prehaps the spell.
Sir Valdalen pulls back away from the cave, overcome with the aura of evil, shaking his head as he grips his baldric, and whispers lightly to the others:
"There are over a dozen, possibly up to two dozen... They must be undead... Great Lord Heironeous gives dominion over such things but his power is only as great as the quality of his vessel and I cannot guarantee my effectiveness. My faith is as strong as my sword arm but I'm still just a person. We need to make sure we're smart about this.
Someone needs to see if we can locate the hostages - human and goblin - free them and get them started on their escape, and if necessary, the stronger ones can help fight to delay the enemy. I don't relish the idea of having to engage the full force of these things no matter our numbers though, we still have those shapeshifter sorcerers to deal with too. This thing that began as a somewhat simple quest has become a rather dangerous plan. We must persevere and I'll be glad to give my life to see others safely through it, but we should pay heed that this is a serious situation, do not relax your guard."
