Aive will be running on the assumption that if they are undead they are also brain dead and will fall for a simple rope across the entry way trick.
Preferably not having to hold the rope he will look for a spot either side to fasten it
Search 17,
use rope 22,
he will then sprinkle some caltrops across on the inside of the cave entry, all whilst moving silently 17.
Then aive will sneak in and have a closer look at one, If it is an undead evil bugger he will then turn and run out jumping the rope and caltrops, (11jump) and upon seeing him turn and run the party will begin releasing arrows and magic missiles, throwing rocks or whatever. We should get an attack or two in hopefully before they get to the rope, then if luck serves us well another one or two as they trip and fall over the rope and each other.
That is my plan anyway.... Any other ideas?
OOC: Well, I figure all we know is they have pale skin. I was thinking, what if these are the captives, and the reason they're all staring into the cave, is because there's something there that has their attention. They could be chained up, which explains why they haven't fled. As such, your plan seems OK, but I think maybe send in one of the elves to take a look. I mean, there's low light in the cave, we might as well use someone with low-light vision. Don't send Myrrani in, because if they attack, she's toast in one attack, and her Jump modifier is -4, so she'll probably land on a caltrop, or trip on the rope. It figures though, the ONE time I don't put Dancing Lights in my selection of spells.
I like Aive's plan. But can our paladin not simply detect if evil emanates from these creatures? If so, then we can just start raining death upon them.
Del's eyes look grim. His bow is in hand, which seems to almost glow with an angry menace.
Valdalen peers into the cave, eyes squinted, then closes them and reaches out with spirit and divine grace from Heironeous, probing the denizens of the cave for their intent.
OOC: I thought it would be automatic - you have to specify you're detecting evil?
OOC:
Myrrani positions herself behind the others and watches their decisions, preparing herself for battle.
OOC: I think, if these ARE undead, then it might be wise to use burning hands rather than magic missile. I'll start by draining a few level 0 spells on acid splash, though. I'll probably keep one or two in case I need to detect magic later.
Lwentano agrees with Del. He pulls his bow out and knocks an arrow. He is ready to take a few of these evil beings out. They are not good if the radiate evil.
I say we kill a few of these creatures whatever they be before they turn around and try attacking us. If our intent is to rid the world of evil we might as start with these.
