I quess it is not really a trap. I don't really know what else to call it though. Technically it is a kind of trap and yes someone pulled the cord / wire. You guys were not exactly quiet and had three light sources. These opponents knew you were coming and were waiting to see what you would do before attacking.

OOC: I cast magic missile at the darkness?

Sir Valdalen backs up a few steps to be clear of the others for as wide swings as possible, draws her sword and readies her shield in the glittering torchlight as the sounds of danger approach, saying "I think we rang the doorbell. Or the dinnerbell. Or both. But look at how small the door is. That can't possibly be very much trouble..." Yet the Paladin backs up a few more steps anyway, asking for Heironeous' oversight for the group all the same.

I don't know what rolls I need or how many so here ya go:

SA: Attack when in range or monsters approach, using sword as offensive +1.

D20 Rolls (for whatever): 17, 7
Initiative: 1, 2
Longsword Hit: 15, 19 (+3 = 18, 22) *penalties for being in enclosed space?
Longsword Damage: 2, 5 (you add to damage rolled?)

Hearing the sounds of combat near the cave mouth, Philo sneaks up to watch and wait for the battle to finish. There is no shame in looting the dead if it means another day or two of eating food and not scrounging the trash for scraps.

As the party disappears deeper into the cave, Philo cautiously moves closer to the cave entrance in search of the dead. The smell of rotting vegetation is strong but not over-powering.

He does not to see any bodies -- was no one killed?

Perhaps that is why they are moving deeper into the cave - have they driven their opponents deeper into the tunnels?

Philo carefully circles around the cave walls and down the tunnel towards the torch light. He is using the light from the torches to judge the distance between himself and the others as well as listening for any sounds.

If someone approaches, Philo will attempt to hide.

OOC: Let me know if you need anything else
Unmodified dice rolls:
D20: 3, 9, 12, 18, 10, 13, 13, 7, 14, 1
Shortbow (1d6): 3, 5, 4, 6, 3
Shortsword (1d6): 5, 3, 1, 3, 1
Dagger (1d4): 3, 3, 3, 3, 4

hide 3 + 3 = 6 +10 (Ring of Chameleon Power)
listen 3 + -1 = 2
move silently 2 + 3 = 5
search 3 + 3 = 6
spot 3 + -1 = 2

Serious GM note: You cast magic missile on the darkness and the darkness implodes. The resulting blast destroys all existence as you know it.

What does the party do now?

No, high pitched voice guy, you are not there you are at the bar, yes you are hitting on the drunk lady successfully.

-- Seriously these next few rounds are going to be interesting. I am getting antsy to see how it will play out. You better post soon Aive or I might add in some more devilish stuff. biggrin.gif

Sir Valdalen's eyes widen as acrid pitch fills the Paladin's lungs and fit of pained coughing seizes the youth, who can barely hold sword and shield, let alone use them effectively for a moment. Finally after the initial spasm has passed, teary-eyed and out-of-breath and still unable to get a good inhale of clean air or see well, Val presses on in preparation to fight but significantly reduced in effectiveness.

"Curses... *COUGH, GASP* foul magicks and infernal ... *HACK*" is all the Paladin is able to utter before entering a new round of wheezing.

OOC: I would like to use my previously posted rolls I guess, with the -4 applied to them, so:

SA: Attack when in range or monsters approach, using sword as offensive +1.

D20 Rolls (for whatever): 17, 7
Initiative: 1, 2
Longsword Hit: 15, 19 (+3 = 18, 22) *penalties for being in enclosed space?

Myrrani, seemingly unhindered by the fog except in that it makes it impossible to see, casts magic missile at the foe.

(3 damage if it hits, from the previous roll)
