It is just terrible that the mother of this child showed no remorse whatsoever for what she has done. I hope the child is placed in a loving home instead of be returned to his mother which is likely to happen.

HAGERSTOWN, Md. -- A Franklin County couple has been charged after leaving a young child in a car while they shopped. Police said 20-year-old Laura Havens and her boyfriend, 22-year-old Casey Shields, left Havens' 2-year-old boy in a locked car while they shopped at the Prime Outlets in Hagerstown, Md. The car was not running and police said the toddler was crying when they found him. Investigators found the boy around 2:45 a.m. Friday. Police said there was no heat in the car and estimated it to be about 36 degrees at the time. Jason Litten from the Washington County Sheriff's office said, "The child was found just wearing a T-shirt, blue jeans and no shoes, soaking wet. It was quite cold in the vehicle. He was shivering and quite scared." The child was taken to Washington County Hospital for observation and released to a family member of the boyfriend. Police said the mother gave no remorse for leaving the boy in the car and said she left him there because he was asleep. She is charged with confining an unattended child. The boyfriend faces that charge along with possession of marijuana. |

Comments: I think that parents who leave there kids alone in the car is evil! sure it is all right to leave them in the car for 1 minute within eye sight but it is never all right to just forget and walk away from your child unattended that is just down right mean! Who in the right mind would even dare to do that So parents out there please don't do this!
We have had a couple cases here where a parent has left their child alone in the car during the summer heat as they went to work. The babies were found dead later in the day. I believe neither parent has faced prison time as they claimed they just forgot about dropping the child of at dare care and went to work. I believe that this has given more mothers a plea to get of if the purposely leave their child in a car like that.
How terribly irresponsible of the father and traumatic for the child! He probably thought it was some kind of punishment or his parents were abandoning him.
