Tower of Babel - Confusion of Tongues
Have you ever considered if Tower of Babel and the Confusion of Tongues was literal or merely symbolic? We know that only modern man has the engineering means to erect very tall structures, so how tall could the Babel Tower be? Then was the Confusion of Tongues a process or instant? What are your thoughts?
Well because I live in New Zealand, we are ahead of the world. So we get to go to Sunday school class first than probably most of you guys. This is actually quite interesting because our Sunday School teacher was teaching us about this. From what I picked up on from the lesson this is what I think. I do believe that it was a literal event that actually happened, there has been between 3000-8000 languages on this earth at the same time. How do you think people differentiate their languages so differently without God intervening? Think about it, you have people who use lines to write their language like Hebrew and Chinese.
I think that this building would have to taller than the Empire State building simply because their aim was trying to reach to heaven to get to God. These people were punished because they wanted to have glory for themselves because they build a tower to get to God instead of building it for the glory of God.
I often wonder about the confusion of tongues. Was it a symbolic or literal event? Maybe something that happened over time but explained as though it happened in an instant.
