What is your strategy for confronting the creature Lizard in Dungeons & Dragons?

From the rules I use lizards do no damage. They do 1d4-4, if I am not mistaken 4 - 4 is 0. Some GM's may consider it 1 damage every hit though. Besides that even if they do just 1 damage I don't see a huge problem with fighting them. Any particular strategy would probably work.
