They serve their meals according to the basic food groups, but the children get a choice between two different main dishes, (like for example:  grilled cheese or spaghetti) and two veggies and milk or juice for the drink.  Sylvanna can take her own lunch, but she likes to the school cafeteria lunch.  She also gets free lunches, because Shady is the only one working.

That's my word....FREE! LOL. They give you free lunches just because Shady is the only one working? woww, that's good. I miss those things of the USA ;D

LOL  girl...  isn't that what public school is?  Jail for children... six-foot fences, bells that tell them when to move, when they are late, when to eat; they are taught what to think (but not how to think) from government-approved books; and some schools even insist on uniforms.  And of course, the divided plate with government-approved food.

Yup, because it would cost us $10 a week for Syl to eat breakfast and lunch at school.  :o  But with Shady being the only one working, we qualified for reduced/free lunch program.  It's funded through the state.

lol At least some of the kids think it is.  ;)  lol  My child goes to a public school that doesn't require her to wear a uniform, but they do have a strict dress code.

But back on topic, at least she does get a choice of her meals and breakfast in the cafeteria.

My 2 little ones at the moment really love corned beef, mashed potatoes and beans!
They would eat this every day if I let them.

At school my little girl who has coeliac disease, has a full cooked dinner that is gluten-free, I cook for her every Sunday evening, and do enough meals for her for the week. My husband delivers her meals to school on a Monday, and then school stores/freezes them for her.I don't need to worry about her eating foods that she shouldn't this way.

When it comes to her evening meal, she also gets a cooked meal, I like to know that my children are getting good healthy, wholesome food.

My little boy only goes to afternoon nursery, so he gets a cooked meal before he goes into nursery.
