Child is only based on Parent?

Are children's behavior related to parent's behavior?

When you see a child answer a question in a very intelligent manner, what is the first thing you think about... the child is naturally intelligent, the parents passed their 'intelligent' genes to the child or the parents worked hard to develop the child's intelligence? Conversely we can think about this in the case of a child that seems 'slow' for her age group. What about in the case of hyperactivity?

Parent based only Child

Most doctors and researches agree in this one. Kids born with their own personalities...they may get certain things from parents but most of it it's their own, they born that way. Hyperactivity can be due also to parent's stress, diet and nutrition.

Child is only based on Parent? Health & Special Psychology

The ideal parents look after every aspect of their child's health, meaning physically and mentally, reading and writing is the mental health of the child. Ultimately it will all depend on the IQ of the individual child if expected to achieve high grades at school.
But how do parents know how intelligent their child is unless they do some brain exercises?
Children with a low IQ will have poor performance, and clever children with a high IQ will also perform poorly if they ARE NOT WORKING TO THERE FULL POTENTIAL. There are a lot of clever children out there but sadly aren’t doing as well as they could be why? Because there parents don’t make much effort to teach the children what they should!!!
Genes and environment both effect how a child will perform, the best way to do this test is to get two identical twins, because they genes are both identical, have the parents teach one and leave the other one without mental exercise and there will be a major difference.
When a child does well it all does reflect back to the parents, after all the home is the first school of a child.

Parent based only Child

But as children get older lets say moving into there teen years, and start to do as they wish regardless of what there parents may say!
People still tend to judge the parents, even though the parents didn't have this bad influence on the child, like for example if teenagers start doing drugs, no parent would ever encourage the child to do this...
So we can see that as children get older they tend to pick up habits from other places other than home? No. They don’t do everything that their parents told them; now their peers at school are influencing them.
But people still tend to blame in on the parents, some people can be very narrow minded and label people they think that they can just look at a child and presume they know what the parents are like, which can turn out extremely the opposite!

Parent based only Child

I think that a child is based on what the parent does or doesn't teach the child.  Plus, it also boils down to the environment of the where the child lives (i.e. home life, neighborhood, school, ect.)  Of course there are many similarities between child and parent, but not sure if things like hyperactivity or even ADD or ADHD are carried on thru the genes.  I do know that some disorders (i.e. diabetes and certain mental disorders) do carry through the genes, and even skips generations.  But I think that a child with hyperactivity does eventually grow out of it.  Just like some children do outgrow ADD or ADHD.

Child is only based on Parent?

I don't think that a child's behavior and intellegence is solely based on the parent.  It's a combination of environment, parents,  other family members if any etc... eating habits, individuality, genetics, whatever.  I was one child out of four put into the same family with the same food, same house same parents and pretty much the same basic routine but I am totally different in my intellect eating preferences and I reacted totally different in to situations that we all were exposed to at the same time.  Just because parents are extremely intelligent doesn't mean that the child is garaunteed to be and so on.
