But to the child, it seems he does! I remember when my daughter was very young she would worry about natural disasters occurring. It would keep her awake at night, especially if she had learned about the dangers of earthquakes, etc. in school. One night she was especially worried about tornados. I assured her that where we live, we are in no danger of tornados. Tornados in the mountains? Not likely. Then, the very next morning, we had a small tornado in our city. That was her first clue her mom didn't know everything. But it actually was helpful for her because even though there had been a natural disaster, we were fine. I think it's the unknown that is the most scary thing for children.
