He spent 16 hours a day doing nothing with his life after he was forced to give up the internet. This clearly shows a very disturbed child. I just wish his father had actually locked all the guns up and hidden the shells and bullets so that he could not find them easily.

They say people who commit suicide think about it a lot and don't kill themselves over one thing. Eventually a "straw breaks the camels back", they feel they have no other option and commit to the act.

I do put some of the blame for this one on the parents. It sounds like the kid was not very popular and the internet was his only real connection with anyone. He was looking for help I think by saying he was going to kill himself. I just think if it was my son I would have seen the warning signs sooner and taken more of an interest in his life. You know, take him fishing or throw a ball around with him, something to that effect.

Yes, they went squirrel hunting and maybe a few other things. To me it sounds like he was really, really lonely and misunderstood. Which for a young person like that, it is very hard to deal with.

Granted, I am not in any way saying that it is ok to kill some one because of that but, I wonder if it was dealt with differently by the father the outcome may have been better for all. He is obviously not the sharpest tool in the shed, he just needed some guidance and Love I think.

I wonder if a boy like Hughstan Schlicker will even give a positive thought or maybe sigh a regret about his father on Father's Day?

This is very sad. This boy was obviously in grave danger to not just himself but to others. He needed help obviously. I just hope he gets that help now. Instead of being another statistic of teen killing a parent. Technology has a lot to answer for I think, but I also think that parents need to realise that just popping their child in front of a tele or the computer is not helping their social awkwardness. This child paid the price. And so did his parent.

Comments: I actually knew Hughstan. He was in my grade all the time except for elementary when he was in third and I was in second and he got held back the following year. 2nd grade to 8th, we hung out in the same click, and I felt bad for having no idea this went on. I wanna give just a little different insight on this though.

He would come to school a lot of days with bruises and when people would ask, it was his dad who had done that to him. And over the years, he would tell stories about stuff his dad would negatively say about him, which obviously didn't bode well with him. Just putting a little bit of perspective here before you say, "What a psycho, he only killed his dad because he took away his myspace!" I'm not saying that this justifies it; more of one of those 'Just sayin' deals.

Comments: [..] I was friends with him for 11yrs he is one of the sweetest kindest people you could ever meet he would give you the shirt off his back if u needed it the only reason he was so "disturbed" was because people never gave him a chance like most teens do people chose not to get to know him because of his looks I at one point was the same way we were friends as little kids then things changed as teens but once I got to know him again I realized how smart sweet and funny he is he was ALWAYS there whenever I needed him I LOVE HIM and that wont ever change no matter what everyone brands and labels him as I just really hope he gets the help he needs to finish his adult life happily and if you ever meet him get to know him u will truly understand how amazing he is!

Just going a bit with what Logan is saying about the father, we really don't know what transpired in that house. I think we all know that abuse happens even when the person seem nice and friendly, I am not saying this is the case of Hughstan but one thing I am sure of, nobody kills their own father over such thing. There is way much more to this story than we all know.
