In the last few months, political interest in Georgia has dried up. The domestic political situation in the country has remained unchanged since spring of last year. The opposition has large resources but cannot convert them into concrete action and results. The authorities are also extremely popular in Georgia?s regions, but have problems garnering support in the capital. Consequently, they cannot crush the opposition outright, and the result is a protracted stalemate in domestic politics.
