"Yeah. The rest of the group is heading south to some farm or other. So I think we have a bit more time... Oh, and there were a couple new additions to the group... And some stuff happened, but we're talking about that later... Now, I'm getting hungry, can we go? It would be rude to ignore a personal invitation from the Duke, I think."

Stronghold The Dragons and Dungeons

As you enter the hall a maid comes over and takes your guard off to the side to show him where he will be sitting. Another maid takes Ryorst and sits him behind the main table where he will not be able to enjoy the food at all. One of the court pages bows deeply to Lionel and escorts him to the head table and sits him on the right side of the Dukes central place. After your set many others take their seats. You can see that the dukes place, and the two places left of him are empty too.

Lionel sees Ryorst moved behind the main table and, with a slight frown, waves the maid over. When the maid walks over to Lionel, he will ask quietly, "May I keep him", Lionel points to Ryorst, "near me as he is my royal food taster". Lionel wonders where the Duke may be, and he hopes there will be no trouble at this dinner.

Ryorst sighs. He had not expected to be seated at the head table, but he had expected to be receiving SOME food. He looks around the room, trying to spot anyone who stands out in any way.

The maid just smiles and nods. "OF course your highness that is why he is sitting behind you. We do not allow food tasters to be seated at the tables. Nor do we allow men servants to be seated at the tables. They must be ready to assist their lords as you should be quite familiar with. Forgive me if I prattle on". She bows and quickly leaves.

After about a five minute wait the duke and the rest of the dinner guest sweeps into the room with the duke loudly proclaiming that he is sorry to keep people from their dinner. HE bows to Lionel as he comes around the head table. Sorry for my tardiness your grace. He sits down and announces that dinner can be served. Natasha and the Dukes advisor are not present.

Many servants start coming thru a side door carrying platters of food. The start at the head table makes sure everyone has a chance to get some food before working down to the lessor tables.

Lionel any food that is served to Ryorst has to come from your plate alone. Otherwise he will not be able to eat. Skedvick sitting at a lower table is able to get his fill.

"Ryorst are you fine with this", Lionel asks quietly to his friend on being a food taster, pointing to his plate. After Ruorst's answer Lionel will start talking to the Duke, "I heard what happened to your adviser, I am sorry to hear of this. I presume that Lady Natasha will not be joining use because of this?" Lionel waits for an answer before continuing, "I also heard some say he may have fell down the stairs drunk, another account suggests he may have been shot with an arrow, as an arrow was said to have been found near him, though one of your guards said otherwise."

The duke turns to you and says, " Really? It is funny how some rumors get started and fly thru the keep like wild fire. It is true that Natasha's uncle fell down the stairs. He slipped on a stair and tried to grab a hold of a guard to catch himself but tumbled down anyways. The guard lost his balance while reaching for the advisor and lost his quiver that also tumbled down the steps. That is probably where the arrow came in to play. Natasha is a good healer and assures me that the advisor will be well enough to venture out of his rooms on the morrow. now relax and let us enjoy this fine meal. I hope you find everything to your satisfaction."

"Yes, very much so", as Lionel had started eating, and was having his "food taster" try each piece of food, and hid drink. "Will Lady Natasha, be open anytime tonight or should I wait for another day, as what has happened may prevent this", Lionel asks.
