Most of my animals have thought out names but the names my sister comes up with are interesting.
We have had many fish over the years and hampsters that I don't even remember their names. I do remember that my one hampster was named Flash though.
Our first rabbits that were Netherland Dwarfs, we named Chocolate Chip and Frost, or Frosty after Robert Frost . Frosty is mine. Both were females, but we lost Chip after she got sick suddenly. My sister bought another bunny that she named Cookie Brown. Odd name. It turned out to be a male, got my rabbit pregnant and we ended up with six babies. My rabbit is black with a white belly and white tips on certain parts of her body. Cookie is dark brown. Obviously.
We got three grey babies and three black babies out of the union. We named the two grey males Thumper and Prince because they were specific requests from people who wanted to buy them. We named the runt that was the grey female, Baby. We ended up keeping her. The two black males we named Keptail (?), random name, and NoName. NoName was an odd one. He had white on his face which none of the other bunnies had. The black female we named Rebel because she had an attitude that rivalled her mothers. She was renamed Sophie by her owners and died shortly after. I would like to think it's because of the name.
We had a dog that I named when I was three. I had originally wanted to name him Beet because he was red. Get it, Beet Red. I thought it was funny. He ended up being named Sunshine. He was a Golden American Cocker Spaniel. I loved him a lot. He was my buddy, Munchkin boy, my Pookie-Snookie boy.
Right now we have two horses but one on the way. My mare is named CresT., her full name Crescent's Twilight because of the shape of a crescent moon on her shoulder and neck. She is a beautiful horse. Her nicknames vary from Hillbilly, Toothpaste, Princess, Snobby, and Lover-Doll.
My sister's horse, Dallas, is a complete retard. I don't even know why we bought him! I hate him so incredibly much! His full name is Medallion and he is a good looking horse.
Their baby will probably be called Christian's Hope after my best friend that died a few weeks ago. He was really looking forward to seeing the baby.
Our last pet is a cat. She is a year and we called her Cleopatra, or Cleo, or Kitty. She responds to Kitty more than anything else.
We're planning on getting another dog and I'm begging for a Border Collie, I'll think of a name when we get it.
Oh, and there is a neighborhood pet. It's a doe that was taken in by my neighbors when she was so tiny and her mother had died. We call her Bambi and she comes when she's called and loves to run beside me when I ride.
We have in the past taken in loads of waif and stray animals,so we have had loads of different names, everybody knew we had a soft spot for animals, so we ended up with everybody else's "unwanted" animals!
The last one being a rabbit that one of our neighbours asked us to have, no sooner had we put it in a new hutch, than our neighbour told us that she thought it may be pregnant. I think she more or less knew that she was, because we ended up with 6 little bunnies. We intended to find new homes for the babies, but unfortunately 3 died within the first day, and we felt so mean at getting rid of the others! so we kept them all,and we called them--
woody (toy story)
cocoa (my younger childrens favourite drink
and chino (short for cappuchino because she is coffee coloured!)
I have loved reading about the interesting names people have given their pets. When I met bwren he had a toy poodle, rat terrier mix named WB. The dog was black with a little white so the name seemed fitting. Our first dog we bought together was a beagle. I named him Gordon after my favorite race car driver Jeff Gordon. I'm not for sure why I didn't name him Jeff. Maybe because Gordon sounded cooler. Unfortunately WB was hit by a car and Gordon escaped from the backyard and was picked up. We were never able to find him. A week after we lost Gordon, we brought home our first lab named Monty. That was the name he had at the animal shelter and we decided not to change it. We now have three more labs: Scoot, Missy, and M. There wasn't much thought given to Scoot's and Missy's names. When we were playing with them their first afternoon at home, Billy said looked at Scoot and called "Come on Scooter." So we shortened it to Scoot. I was calling Missy "Little Miss" since she was our only girly so she became "Missy". M's name was given more thought, even though not more letters. He looked so much like Monty, like a Mini Monty so I wanted a play on that some how. So we called him M&M. Eventually it became just M. It seems that his name is fairly appropriate for his personality. M could also stand Momma's boy, since he wants to be in my lap all the time.
My grandmother hates cats because of an experience she had as a young child, so I never had one of my own. However, my aunt and uncle had several and when one of them had kittens, I got to choose one. I named her Sweet Pea, because she looked like she had a tiny pea beside her nose, she was a calico.
We have had several dogs. We had one when I was a small child named Sally. Then we had Co-co and Buffy (Co-co was bitten by a snake and Buffy ran off) Then we had Cleo (she was a blonde poodle) who died of a heart attack at the groomer's. Now we have Rudi, a maltsese with a very loud voice. We named her Rudi after my grandfather's best friend. They were best friends for over 80 years.

We've got 2 dogs, one is called Mylo, the kids called her that from the 'Tweenies' kids programme,(I think the programme one is spelt with an 'I' though.)
the other is called Flanagan, we took that from an Irishman that we met on holiday just before we got the dogs. Whenever he called for his little dog Flanagan, it made me laugh and I decided that I would call ours the same.
I haven't met another Flanagan since, and our dog is quite a big Saluki Greyhound. Mylo is a cross Alsatian, but both are lovely natured dogs.
The most popular name for a pet in the United States is Max
