Old Brick Introduction

Hello.

I originally intended to find a server that hosted text-based, browser MMORPG games. More specifically, I hoped such server would also provide a development system so I could create my own game (similar to Forumotion for discussion forums). As I perused the Internet, I encountered the term "play-by-post RPG", which sounded interesting, so I delved into that topic until I arrived at the site "World of Medieval". To create a character for this play-by-post game, I must first write 30 constructive posts on International Discussions.

Thus, I am here. (...and, as yet, I still do not have a feel for "play-by-post RPG" games )

Who am I?

* Married with two teenage sons
* Our oldest son in currently applying to universities (he takes the ACT test this Saturday)
[Yes, we love our younger son, too, but he's comparatively uneventful right now smile.gif ]

* I'm an expat American
* I'm a former IT person. My wife is a former bridge designer.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

The facilities offered are flexible depending on what is needed. If you are a true writer then you should fit in well. You can always expand on what you were looking for.

As Horde indicated you have two choices. I recommend you choose an AD&D Adventure. You can start creating your character and participating right away without having to make 30 Posts - see here: Source 2 for the steps needed.

Adventures requiring 30 Posts are currently starting so only if you can make your 30 Posts now will you be able to enter those.

Should you have questions feel free to ask here.

Hi, JB.

Thank you (and Horde) for pointing me to an instant-start AD&D game.

Regarding your question, I have lived in the Czech Republic for the last 19+ years.

Introduction Brick Old

Welcome, Old Brick. I tried the old text based games, MUDS and such, like Zork, which I loved, but never got into them, and I found some pretty stable free graphic MMORPGs, but I lean toward play-by-post games myself, I like tabletop roleplaying games, either player or GM - in fact, maybe slightly more as a GM.

I haven't played Medieval but I hear a lot of good things and it's always full of players so you'll probably want to keep an eye on it when you do get your required posts and activity, once you get the hang of PbP and like it.

Right now, Oliron is running his "Dark Calling" campaign, and KNtoran is running his more or less unnamed campaign, both AD&D/3.5/SRD (the basic rules are free online), and I imagine either or both would welcome a new player, though I recommend you read the first page or two of each Game thread, and then last, to see what's going on in each.

If/when/before you do any of that, I strongly suggest you read the Newcomer FAQ which I wrote, for newly arrived people interested in trying KNtoran's AD&D PbP game (but works for any here with minor adjustments): AD&D Newcomer F.A.Q.

I wish you the best!
