The Jews are still the chosen people of God, simply because the Covenant between Abraham and God made that a sure thing. This does not guarantee them salvation, since salvation has been completed in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. God simply invites us to receive what he has provided for us in Christ. Because of their rejection of Christ Jesus as Savior and Messiah (Anointed One - Hebrew - Yeshua Hamachiach) they are still blessed because of their Fathers but 'blessed' is different than 'salvation'. Only as they come to Christ can they receive salvation and eternal life. The prophecy of Daniel and the Book of Revelation speak of a 'remnant' of the Jews in the Last Days that will turn to Christ. Jesus said himself,

After the episode with the 'Lawless One' (Matthew 24:15) they will repent and also fulfill Zechariah chapter 10. This is also known as the Latter Rain, the complete fulfillment of the Book of Joel chapter 2. Chosen, Yes! but saved, not until they repent and turn to Christ.
Many are turning to Christ but many more, after much martyrdom, will turn to Him. The Book of Romans talks about a grafting in of the original branch and this will happen, just as it has been prophesied.

Comments: The chosen are those who believe on Jesus and do his will. It is no longer based on race or background.

That is a nice statement, and a nice belief. How do you justify it? Where, in all of God's words to mankind, does he tell us that the descendants of Abraham, through Judah, are no longer the "Chosen" ones?

Comments: For the original question maybe we need to define what it means to be "chosen" and then we can decide if it applies to them. Certainly the Jews have been chosen for certain things both good and bad.
