The quarterback holding the burgundy No. 5 Washington Redskins jersey was Donovan McNabb. From everything that was said, it might have been simpler to just go ahead and call him John Elway II. The six-time Pro Bowl star was formally introduced Tuesday at Redskins Park. All things being equal, he would rather be preparing for a 12th season with the Philadelphia Eagles, but an Easter Sunday trade...

I am wondering if the Eagles traded him away as a means to give Vick the lead quarterback position for the Eagles. I think that this trade was not the best thing the Eagles have done. I hope McNabb does will in Washington. At least he is still close to home. smile.gif

It looks like the Eagles have decided to go younger at QB and turn over the reigns to Kolb. Basically, this was the time that they needed to decide to keep McNabb for another 4-5 years with an extension or to go in another direction. Looks like they decided to move on without him and get a 2nd round pick this year and a 3rd or later pick next year depending on how McNabb does in a Redskin uni.

The Eagles have let Westbrook and McNabb go this offseason.

Kolb looked pretty good in his couple of starts last year, so this might be a good move on their part. However, he and coach Reid were pretty tight and to have your loyalty handed to you this way has to hurt McNabb. He will be looking for some payback those 2 games this year, no matter what he says about them just being another game that they have to win and no different from the rest of them.

I think that this move was pretty good for both teams even if the Eagles take a bit of a step back this year with Kolb under center. Kolb (if he has success as a QB in the NFL and he looked like it last year) has another decade in front of him and McNabb probably has another 3-4 years. The only way that this is bad for the Redskins is if they don't sign McNabb to an extension. Then it becomes a deal where they rent McNabb for a year for a draft pick this year (2nd round) and a pick next year (3rd or 4th round) and that is definitely a bad deal!

I can understand them getting rid of McNabb but what about Vick. I thought they would use him first before bring up Kolb. Yes Kolb looked ok but I do not know if he can pull a full season as a starter.

My thinking is that they will give it to Kolb and if he can stand on his own two feet, Vick is trade bait. Vick didn't cost much and they drafted Kolb pretty high as a potential McNabb replacement a couple of years ago. Vick is a Randall Cunningham clone and I am not sure they want to revist those days...IMO.
