Exams - everyone hates them but everyone has to do them. While they may not show your true ability you should try and do aswell as possible on them. Memory works best through rehersal - the more times you do something the more likely you are to remember it, so study is important. What study methods do you use when revising for exams and how effective are they?
I don't do as much reivision as I should so my first tip would be to make time so that you study all the areas you need to. I takes notes from my class notes and from the textbook. I try to think of phrases or the first letter of a few key concepts I need to remember. These will act as triggers in the exam.
Normally when I make notes I use loads of different colours. It looks more pleasent to the eye than loads of blue or black writing. and different colours reperent different things e.g. negative aspects of a theory may be written in red ink.
Finally I do a mind map for the subject which peieces together all the info for that subject with a few cues and again lots of colour!
They are my tips, what are yours?
Those are great ones Robert!!!! ;D
When I was in college, studying wasn't as fun as I thought it would be :
What I used to do is read everything the teacher asked to and more...when the teachers usually tell you to read from page 1 to 50 I used to read more than that because my teachers used to ask questions from page 60-100 :
I used to take notes and try to study everything within my own words, not text words and definetly since I always suffer of a terrible memory I could not memorize either which I think it's bad to do it anyway.
Study with good friends also helped me quiet a bit. Read, Read and Read and go until the minimum detail to know exactly what is what you're studying. In that way, if you know the subject well you will be able to interpret it in a way that the teacher will be please about.
You're studying psychology, don't you?. I LOVEEEEEEEEEEE it!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D
Everybody learns differently; therfore, I don't think there is a best study method overall which applies to everyone. You need to do what is right for you. Some people can just glance over a topic and know it. Others, me being included, need to go over it and over it before it is learned. Most learning is memorization, but always remember to actually learn it at the same time. I am peronsally a hands on learner. I learn best by watching and then doing.
