What I didn't get about the Hughes vs. Gracie fight is the amount of 'respect' they had for each other. It was to the point of them not really wanting to fight. It made the matches before this one look a lot better. The other thing that surprised me was the round number girls - I thought that wasn't allowed in Dubai and women and had to be covered well?

Comments: Not only that but Hughes could of taken him out earlier but just kept kicking his left leg. He even helped him up that one time, I never saw hat before. he clipped him and then instead of laying it on Hughes just stepped back.
Yes I couldn't understand the hit and step back. Most fighters usually try to hit you and if they see you shaken by it they go in for the kill but Hughes would step back and give Gracie a chance to recover.
What about the Penn fight. He lost because he wanted to fight him standing up but Edgar is just too fast, something I think Penn is not used to. Funny thing is BJ Penn's corner told him to take it to the ground but he didn't want to for some reason.
Have to say I enjoy this type of fighting. It lets the fighters use all sorts of techniques and skills to fight one another. I have not followed these particular fights but wish I had. I think the reason why he let him recover is because he is a real man's man. There is no honor in hitting a man while he is down.

Comments: I don't agree. This isn't practice with novices. These are professionals and people pay to see a fight not sparring. In contrast look at how Silva was against Mia, he put on a show but in the end wasn't humble about it and ended up looking like a goof even though he won the fight the crowd was still chanting Mia. The UFC President Dana White went over to Silva's corner and basically ripped on him for doing that. He isn't going to stand up against George but I still want to see that fight for sure.
Well I quess we all have our own fighting style preferences. I for one don't like seeing a complete beat down. Just because you get the upper hand in one instance does not mean you are the better fighter, in my experience it means you may have gotten lucky. Back in the day fighting was almost punch for punch, seeing who could take the most. You took your shot and waited for him to take his.
