Porpoise
What is your strategy for confronting the creature Porpoise in Dungeons & Dragons?

I'm surprised about the +4 slam attack that a propoise has. I thought it would be just an easy kill.
In real life dolphins and their kind can kill sharks. So that is pretty interesting, I like the 2d4 damage too. Mutch better than a 1d8, the minimum damage is 2 every time it lands a hit.
I wouldn't want to fight in water period, but if I had to fight a porpoise I would try and grapple it as it swam by. Creatures like this are helpless if you can grapple them.
Otherwise another good tactic people seldom use is waiting for the creature to enter into your space. Once it does you get an attack of opportunity, then after it attacks you generally get another attack. So you have just effectively taken it attacking first (wich some think of as an advantage) and turned it into a disadvantage.
Maybe the stats we're reading is for the water only because like these can't do much on land there just real slow.
