Security guards and shop workers went on strike in Finland on Friday morning after the Service Union United (PAM) rejected a conciliation proposal by Esa Lonka, the national conciliator, midnight Thursday.
The 24-hour strike is to continue until 6 am Saturday.
The shop strike is expected to keep the doors of most large shops closed, although smaller ones may be kept open by their managers or personnel who do not belong to PAM.
