Hot dogs are a popular food of choice at amusement parks, ballgames and parties. While parents might not give them much thought, the American Academy of Pediatrics says they are a choking hazard and is issuing new recommendations for warning labels, CBS station WBBM-TV reports.

Couldn't any food be a choking hazard though? We all need to chew properly especially children no matter what they eat.

Yes and food can become a choking hazard if not properly chewed. I know hot dogs are a real threat to smaller children because they still have yet to learn how to chew their food properly. As parents we need to make sure they learn this as we take them from soft foods to chewable foods.
