Underground Subway - Page 4

GM: In Be A Super Hero RPG everything is based around percentages to keep it simple. 100% being the best a powerless human can perform a task and 0% means utter failure. Depending on your ability there is a bonus to a take or not. For example we will use Krusten's speed figure which is 75%. This means that there is a 75% chance of her running 100 meters in 10 seconds. Krusten has the added Super Power of speed 200 which means she has a 275% chance of running 100 meters in 10 seconds. Knowing this allows me to use her percentages in other ways. For instance if she had someone heavy on her back holding on and her percentage was reduced by -100% then Krusten will still have a 175% chance of reaching 100 meters in 10 seconds. Again, another way to look at he 275% is that she can run 275 meters in 10 seconds. That is basically how fast the Krusten character can be at maximum output. With all this in mind I will try to show you how everything happens within this battle in case you want to try the same thing as GM in the future, but you can of course come up with your own system.

Garrant does not like the response he gets and immediately attacks the hijacker.

GM: Now this is where Text RPGing and your characters as Super Heroes have to shine, however it is not up to me to assume HOW you attack someone, but for the sake of demonstration I will assume some things and be imaginative for you.

Garrant looks at the hijacker's gun and immediately uses his power to make the gun hit him in the face hard. The hijacker falls to the ground unconscious and makes the other hijackers immediately frantic.

Optalagent upon seeing the shrug moves in and decides to burn a hole in one of the cars(?).

GM: Which car? The car with all the passengers or one of the others? I will assume you want to burn a hole in the car next to the one with the hostages so you do not kill hostages in the process.

Optalagent begins burning... It is a process that takes time and causes a beam of light to make him stand out in the dark tunnel like a firefly.

Optalagent is an open target. Strength also works as your hit points and constitution. Optalagent has a Strength of 59. GM rolls a D100 against the hijacker's ability to hit a standing target at 75%. I get a 58 so the hijacker hits. Now how badly. I roll another 1d100 for the percentage of your body damaged, I get a 28 so Optalagent has 31 now. This is how damage is calculated but I will not go through so much detail next time, it is just to illustrate.

Krusten uses her speed and arrives at Garrants side just as the hijacker, hit by his own gun earlier, slumps to the ground. She looks and immediately pummels into a hijacker near the door.

GM: Krusten's speed means she reacts and moves in before the hijacker can fire. Krusten's strength is important here so her first roll was 67. She has Strength of 68. This means that her strength was just enough to knock out the man. Her speed can also be considered but not necessary since the man is already out.

The hijacker falls back on to a hostage. A grunt can be heard from the hijacker as he falls. The sound of a moaning Awwww... with gasps for breath can be heard beneath him.

Assassin is not sure all what is going on, but by now him and Forge have an idea as they both emerge from the tunnel.

Assassin makes his way to the third car.

GM: At least that is where I assume you start looking.

Stepping in he does not see anyone noticeable, there are too many people.

GM: Let's see if Assassin is smart enough as to where to look and what to look for fast, let's test his intelligence which is 59 but he makes a roll of 89 which is a fail so he is not able to find anything.

Forge goes to other areas of the train to see how he can be of assistance but is amazed to find at the first and second cars two slumped over hijackers both with bullet holes in their head. This surprises Forge so he ducks in case he becomes a target too not knowing that the SWAT have already done their job efficiently.

While all this happens out of the corner of your eyes you can tell that the Hijackers are readying themselves to fire back....

Garrant becomes the first target as he stands at the door of the subway train.

GM: Does Garrant act quickly? Garrant rolls a 71 and has a speed of 92.

Garrant quickly ducks and rolls to one side of the train as a couple of bullets pass by him.

GM: Say what you wish to do now.

GM Notes: Optalagent 31 Str.

Subway Underground

Garrant waits to see if any hijackers come outside... None do.

Forge gets up bravely and makes his way anxiously to the third car looking frantically for any hijackers but when he gets to the third car he is uncertain where to begin because it is a small car with many inside.

Meanwhile...

Optalagent forcefully decides to leave his burning of the hole in the second cab having been wounded by a hijacker and now decides to levitate above the train while using his laser eyes against his attacker(s). In the process of levitating he becomes an easier target because there really is not much place for him to go but fortunate for him luck is on his side and the sound of bullets hitting the concrete around him can be heard but none penetrate his body. Now the shooter is among the passengers in the third car and unless his aim is good he may end up hitting the hostgaes instead, however added luck and magnificent aim from his laser strikes the hijacker and he falls back possibly dead in a seat of the train while the hostages scream and cry with all that is happening around them.

Krusten senses danger but not quite like the magnitude of a bomb, but then again she does not know... She has never sensed a bomb about to explode before anyway. While thinking this she helps the hostage trapped below the hijacker she slammed into. Some of the hostages begin asking Krusten to help untie them as they see her helping one in need.

Assassin looks for a hijacker now based on the appearance of a gun but finds none. Have they all been taken out already?

GM: Say what you wish to do now.

Underground Subway Reviews & RPGs PBP Anime / Comic

You immediately communicate your wishes to get the police to help move the hostages off the train while also meticulously checking them to ensure they are not wired or know something about the location of a possible bomb.

Bomb sniffing dogs are then sent in barking and looking for any signs... They check the remaining train but nothing is found. Assassin uses his special vision and the other Super Heroes check visually but see nothing resembling a bomb so you begin to feel 'safe' until you hear the radios go off wildly with police on the comm saying:

"Freeze! Bomb! Man with a bomb!"

You can then hear this crazed voice saying,

"Stand back, stand back or we'll all go bye-bye!"

The voice sounds deranged with glitches of a child-like laughter and demonic undertone.

You scramble to look around to see where this is happening and then you look to the station platform just up from where you are and see the police in a stiff stance pointing their pistols around someone you cannot see. All of you leave the train for a better look.

At the subway platform...

You see a man with a fanatical face... Open eyes with a glazed look and frown. He shows his undercoat with a bomb and his hand with a switch. The police (about five of them) are all around him. He looks like he is wearing enough packages to take all of you out as well as half the space you now occupy. Fortunately the hostages made it above.

GM: Say what you wih to do now.

You try to look carefully at how the lunatic is holding the switch. From your estimation his thumb is just above a button but from your position you cannot be sure. You decide upon a plan that will allow you to stop the crazed man from pressing the button and also inform the police of this plan to which they agree.

Optalagent positions himself closer and uses his laser eyes to shoot precisely at the eyes of the man in an effort to blind him. A difficult task at your distance and with police around him.

GM: 30% chance success of success Jpatt rolls 29!

Optalagent aim is precise as the man screams in agony.

At that very moment...

Krusten runs up to try and grab the detenator from his hand.

GM: This is 50/50 roll as it is based on timing. Krusten gets a 23!

She reaches just in time and grabs the switch out of the man's hand. The man then drops to the ground clutching his face and eyes. The police then move in to make an arrest but the man begins to reach for something in his chest coat. The police then scream again...

"Bomb! Get down!"

There is barely time to think as everyone seems to try and scamper for cover.

GM: Do you make it to some sort of safety? Those Super Heroes closer to the lunatic have a 10% chance of getting to cover, the other's have a 30% chance. Rolls as you see must be under the percentage and the rolls you made are thus (your speed is added as a bonus):

Krusten: 55 + speed
Optalagent: 66
Garrant: 71
Forge: 23
Assassin: 24

There is a loud explosion and rumbling much like an earthquake then darkness.

Three hours later...

Search and recue is slowly wading through the rubble. They find Forge, and Assassin without injury in a small pocket between a beam and some rubble. Krusten is also found by the once hijacked subway train.

GM: The others also get away having been blessed with speed. Some of the police were not so lucky. Later the newspapers tell about your story and there is mixed reaction after the city looses some of their officers and has to pay million in repairs.
