Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy
A Friend

Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy

I vaguely followed the UK PBS TV rendition years and years ago.

I looked forward to the movie not knowing much other than the basic premise. Opening day I found my self surrounded by the Trekkie version of Hitchhikers... and to the chagrin of the fellow next to me who tried to strike up a conversation... I said 'who's that?' when he stated the author's name... My blasphemy did not go unnoticed by those second to the back row where I usually reside... (result of banana peel phobia to the back of the neck)

Well... It's been a long time since I fell asleep during a movie. Is it fair to the movie that I am aging? They laughed, I didn't. They oood and awwwd, I yawned. I must say... I guess I just don't get it. But I liked the mice.

Sorry Hitchhiker folk... it just didn't do it for me.

Galaxy To Guide Hitchhikers

I have friends who went to this movie and thought it was the most boring movie they had ever seen. The husband had read the book and loved it, but said the movie ruined the humor.

I am going next week. I have never read the book and wouldn't see the movie on my own, but it is a date. It is amazing what we will do with friends that we would't on our own, isn't it? Often I find I enjoy a movie even when the critics don't. I am hoping this turns out to be one of those times.

It seems that often I like the films critics dis-like as well. I've heard that the book is good, and certainly seems popular. I've never read it. My son saw the movie and loved it, he hadn't read the book either. My mother and brother, both sci-fi fans, and avid movie-goers, and likers of critics' dis-liked films as well (I hope that makes sense biggrin.gif ) fell asleep! She called to say "Don't go, it stinks" I'm still interested, but if Ma says it's bad, it's really bad.

I liked it, then again I like british humor even when it misses the mark. It is boring in places but it is a long movie. It seems it would have been better as a tv show broke into episodes. It is not really a, go see it in the theatre, type movie.
