Imagine in Trinidad a simple DSL connection costs TT$640.00 per month for home use, that works out to be about US$110.00 per month! Now, who said there isn't modern day bandits in white shirts and ties? |
I currently have a 3MB Cable service at home. I don't know what I would do without it. Before that I had 56K dial-up. At work I have a T1 connection like FarSeer, but I have to say that some days my connection at home can be almost as fast as the one at work. Having high speed internet is one of those luxuries I would pay good money to keep.
I refused to pay for cable for the longest time because of the cost. Then about six months ago I accepted an in-home job where it was a requirement, so I got it. Then after two weeks, I quit the job because it wasn't working out for me. The job didn't work out but the cable internet sure did! I love it and had I known how comparatively great it was, I would have done it a long time ago. I really feel sorry for you Trinidad's, poor things.
Currently I am on a 3 MB cable connection. I find that it does have some lag for some of my larger ventures but it generally works out very well for most every day web enjoyment. Cost is not a big issue in my area with cable as I only pay about 99.00$ US per month. (Business package with a persistent IP and usage reporting.) I have been looking into upping that to a true T1 but have not yet decided to shell out that much money just yet.
