Interesting topic, and my apologies if its been previously addressed..
But how do we feel the spirit?
Does it feel as if someone is watching you?
Or a ''burning sensation'' within your bosom?
I know there have been times when I've felt both of these feelings, and so many more. There have been times when it felt as if my insides were on fire. Not like heartburn or anything, but as if something was alive inside me, wanting to grow. Almost like untapped power or potential. Other times, while walking outside at night, you get that creepy feeling as if someone is watching you through the bushes.
And most importantly, when you're sitting somewhere and you can just feel the truthfulness of something. You cannot contain yourself and the tears start to dribble down your cheeks. I would hope in a sacrament meeting, or maybe during splits with the missionaries, or testimony meetings!
What about you? How do you feel the spirit?
Well this is a very interesting topics for many reasons. I believe you can feel the Spirit in the ways you described however:
On my mission, we were always warned that feeling the Spirit can be confused for sexual feelings, and sexual feelings can be confused for feeling the Spirit, so its not always easy to be able to distinguish feeling the Spirit from some other feeling.
The scriptures are very clear on how we feel the spirit. The best and in my opinion most complete stripture on teh subject is Galatians 5:22-23 which says,
Oh I get what you're saying. I thought you meant the other way around you know what am I saying?. Yeah its easy for people to confuse their feelings however we cant really know for sure because we're not in their shoes.
Feeling the Spirit to me is a unique and personal experience and I don't think is only related when we hear something that inspire us to do good because I can think of a few examples of people sharing a personal story that "touched" others and the story happened to be fake.
