Can a motherboard be repaired? - Page 2

I have repaired many moderately damaged motherboards in the past few years. I have very good luck with it personally but I have a few advantages over most anyone. I have loads of inventory left over from a TV repair shop in which post motherboard components can be found within my current stock. In most cases I have found capacitors to be the largest problem. However there are a few IC's as well as voltage regulators that I do also often change. For the basic consumer prices have dropped to the point that repairs are not economically fit to be done as was already mentioned. The exception to this would be a motherboard for a multi-processor server or laptop in which the boards can still cost hundreds of dollars.

Offtopic but,
If you ever look at your motherboard and see that the capacitors (cylinder) on the board have bludging tops or liquid leaking from them be prepared to replace your board for it will not be long to this world.
