When you see an extension on a domain do you know what it means?
What is an 'extension' on a domain?
Something like this:
tg = Togo
tk = Tokelau
to = Tonga
tt = Trinidad, Tobago
tn = Tunisia
tr = Turkey
tm = Turkmenistan
tc = Turks and Caicos Islands
tv = Tuvalu
Example: www.any-old-domain.com.tt
Here is a good site to go to:
https://www.iana.org/cctld/cctld-whois.htm
Now, why does a domain end up with .tt, instead of .com or .org or .net. I understand that these are country designations, but what determines if you use the country designation instead of one of the generic. I not that .gov is for us government and .mil is us military, is .tt only for the Trindad or Tobago government's use?
