It is sad to see a little girl slain in such a manner. I think I heard that the family of the girl is suing the police for wrongful death. I have seen many no knock search warrants. I think the grandmother resisted but to what degree I do not know. I however think that this was probably a accidental shooting.

international QUOTE
Under these conditions, the Bing administration is using the police to crack down on the population. In recent weeks, opponents of police brutality have complained that the Detroit Police Department's gang squad-known as the Mobile Strike Force-has been 'terrorizing" neighborhoods, with complaints against the police rising more than 200 percent.

If the grandmother was putting force against the officers I would not be surprised. The officers are trained for such situations. The grandmother is not trained for people to bust threw her door. I would put all the fault on the police here. They new there were kids inside and should have been showing restraint, wether or not the thought is a possible hostile situation. You have an old lady in front of you, your finger does not need to be on the trigger. Even if it was your gun should not be pointed at a little girl on the couch. If your being shoved or pulled whatever, you point your gun away while struggling.

I'm sure it was an accident, but one that I feel could have been easily avoided.

Family of Slain 7-Year-Old Aiyana Jones Files Lawsuit Against Detroit Police

In Detroit, a funeral will be held on Saturday for Aiyana Jones, the seven-year-old girl who was shot dead by police while she was sleeping in her own home. On Tuesday, a lawyer for the Jones family filed a pair of lawsuits against the Detroit police for the killing that has sparked outrage in the Motor City. The attorney, Geoffrey Fieger, says video of the incident shows police opened fire before they had entered the house. We speak to Ron Scott of the Detroit Coalition Against Police Brutality and the Rev. Jesse Jackson. Ref. Source 8

Oh sure lets drag Jesse Jackson in this as we all know he will play the race card. He will tell everyone that this death would have never happened if this was a white family. I have lost all faith in him.

I do feel sorrow for the family of this little girl.

True they will probably play the race card. Then again I don't hear many stories like this happening to white people. I think the fact that they are poor is better argument, but I can see were they are coming from.

You don't hear about police treating Enron employees this way. Or the corrupt people who contributed largely to our economy buckling. They just get more money paid by our taxes.

Rather off topic, but...
I don't know, when I hear stories like this it just makes me think about how messed up America has gotten. Sometimes I feel like we are living in a police state controlled by who has the money. Very scarry when you break it down and look at what America is supposed to be. Forcing ourselves into a war we don't need to be in. Robbing the poor and middle class to bail out the rich who blatantly don't care. Loosing our jobs and being treated like scum.

Stories like this seem to be a by-product of the larger situation we now find ourselves forced into. I know if it was me and my kid was needlessly shot by a cop I would be pretty mad, and do whatever I could to get revenge within the law. I am just glad it is on tape, now it will be much harder to cover up.

Shooting before they broke the door? Are they crazy? If it is true these cops are facing long years in prison. It seems to me that a lot of proper procedures weren't followed.
