LAFAYETTE, Indiana, May 12, 2010--Benedict XVI appointed Msgr. Timothy Doherty of the clergy of the Diocese of Rockford, Illinois, as bishop of Lafayette in Indiana.
Bishop-designate Doherty, 59, succeeds Bishop William Higi, whose resignation from the pastoral care of the same diocese the Holy Father accepted, upon having reached the age limit.
