Patrick vs. Kamala On CNC 3
I watched both interviews. I'm glad that some pressing questions were brought to both runners, however I found the whole operation a bit biased in favor of the PNM. Here is an example:
In the PM's interview the host seemed to compliment Patrick Manning a lot and there was no bottom line saying "Can Patrick Lead?". People were not given time to text in their silly dialect messages (see below). As usual the Prime Minister continued to water down crime and other big concerns of citizens. He also seems to hint that if he came back to power he would change / stop all the problems stopping 'red tape' that stops the government from being able to do as it wish.
In the interview with Kamla Persad-Bissessar you have this big headline below her asking the question "Can Kamala Lead" along with some text messages sent in both for and against her. Some of the questions were ridiculous as well. The host, Shelly Dass. asks Kamala several times what she will do with the over budgeted UNOCCUPIED and INCOMPLETE buildings the PNM have been working on - if she will stop those projects. Kamala kept saying to Shelly that an investigation has to be done what does Shelly want Kamala to do - occupy incomplete buildings? The only complete building Kamala mentioned as being occupied already was the Prime Minister's residence.
What are your thoughts?
The first interview was a PR interview. Mr. Manning chose the reporters so obviously he knew what sort of questions he would be asked. Notice that the issue of crime was handling at the drug level and not other areas. Also notice that the reporters present did not insist or pressed upon controversial statements such as Calder Hart privately donating his own money towards the Church owned by the Prime Minister's spiritual adviser, as well as the ridiculous remark that in construction lingo "PM" stands for "Project Manager" which is NOT true at all.
Hearing the PM (and no, I did not mean Project Manager) in that interview, I come to the conclusion that he lost COMPLETE sense of reality.
In the second interview, we had a super hyperactive Shelly Dass asking questions to Kamla, yet not letting her finish, going over Facebook messages but sharing little and overall, being a very messy interview. I think Kamla did "ok" and showed a lack of experience on the field. I wish they would have give her the time to share more about her own manifesto.
I enjoyed watching both because we had a good laugh. We were laughing about Manning saying PM means project manager and his saying Hart madea private contribution to the church. I think Manning has to give the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago more credit for our intelligence. For the Kamala interview I think she tried her best but Shelly Dass was on steroids or something she was going no where with her questions. She needs to stick to reading the news and leave asking questions to someone else. What happened to Ira Mathur, she could have done a better job.
I wonder if Manning really believes that Trinis are so stupid as he makes them out to be?
Name: Missy
Comments: Shelly Dass come on you could do better than that is like asking you about sports.
The interesting thing about Shelly is that I have seen several interviews and she is always the same. I think she is great at reading news but not so much with interviewing.
In any case, Kamla was not direct in a lot of questions, quite evasive.
And just think that after watching that video of Manning people will still go out and vote PNM so yes some people in Trinidad will pay for steak... Get salt fish... And feel they get a good deal.
