Yes, I am an IT Manager for a law firm. Basically, I manage myself as far as staff goes so in addition to managing the network itself I also take care of user trouble calls.
I love when someone calls me because they have gotten an error message in an application. I tell them to reboot and they say, they don't have time to reboot just because they got an error message. I ask them if they have time to get that error message six more times. At this point, they usually begrudgingly reboot!
It's tough being tech support - customers can be very demanding. I find the worst people are other 'computer professionals' - your regular level lusers do what you say, and you fix the problem fairly quickly - other techies start to question you, and that's when you have to invent really good reasons why something is doing what it is doing.
I've convinced customers that their machines need 3-4 days to get up to full speed - I'm quite proud of doing that, even if I do say so myself
