I took specific note of the current blemish being highlighted by the media about Mary King's involvement in a website contract by the government given to a relative of Mary King, now even her own party wants her to resign. I wonder if she will and I also wonder if all of this would have come about if it were not for the Express highlighting it?

This woman is taking everybody for a ride or what? I didn't believe a word she said. She's an economist so I don't know why she's playing the "I didn't know anything" card. Shame! RESIGN!

So all this time she was pretending? I don't believe for a second the fact that she didn't want to say anything because of the reasons she stated, I believe she's lying. The point now is: Will she resign? No, she won't.

Mary King had more than enough time to resign and leave quietly (at least until investigations take place) she chose not to do and our Prime Minister moved quickly and it is reported now that Kamla revoked Mary King's appointment as Planning Minister. She also stated that the website contract to Ixanos Ltd may be revoked.

international QUOTE
Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has revoked the appointment of Planning Minister, Dr Mary King.

This follows a newspaper report on Sunday which alleged that she has familial ties to Ixanos Ltd, a software engineering company which won a $100,000 government website development contract from her Ministry last November.

Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar said she will send a letter to the President this afternoon, asking that he revoked both her Ministerial and Senatorial appointment.

She said she was deeply saddened by this course of action but it had to be done in the interest of all.  Mrs Persad-Bissessar also insisted that it was the right thing to do in the circumstances.

"There will be no replacement this afternoon, given the timeframe for the revocation to take place and the appointment. For today, there will be no replacement. By tomorrow, there will be a replacement for the Ministry."

Senator King has since said she had no involvement with the tender process and was unaware that the company was bidding for work in her Ministry until the actual opening of the bids.

She is also alleged to have said that the Prime Minister had all the knowledge of the tendering process and had approved the deal. However, the Prime Minister has set the record straight on Dr King's statements.

"I was not made aware of many things with respect to this matter before the public expose. I am very disappointed, not because it is a woman, a bright person. She gave us some documents yesterday setting out what she felt were some discrepancies in the story on Sunday. She did send me something in writing which I passed on to the AG." Source 1
