The key here is people need to keep their systems patched. Now, I don't apply all of Microsoft's patches immediately and I don't think any prudent administrator would. Often, the patches cause problems themselves, but if we keep an eye on the threats on the internet so that we can apply patches as they become critical, run a firewall, and a good virus software package with up to date definitions, we are farely well protected.
