The captain turns to Feroz and says "If you give your word to help me avenge my sister this artifact shall be your reward" and with that he removes from his pocket and holds up an vicious looking ornate black dagger with a clear crystal eyeball in the bottom of the hilt surrounded by steel thorns. The curved jagged blade protrudes from a wilting rose.
He holds it out carefully as he says "try it, hold it tight and ask it what you wish to know but be careful, knowledge comes at a price and we cannot know everything."
Watching the new ship close Wolter will take up station on the port side of the stern with as many arrows as he can find. IF this ship is unfriendly they will feel the sting of his arrows. HE will use his sight to see what he can make out on board the ship approaching. (2X normal human sight)
"I am sorry good sir, I cannot in good spirits accept this task.", Feroz frowns apologetically.
"I am will try my best to help you while we are aboard your vessel but, I am afraid my road may lead elsewhere, I cannot make such a promise to you."
Wolter can see twice as far in low light compared to humans. Daylight vision is still the same.
The morning mist is quite heavy and hampering your vision.
The captain doesn't give Feroz another breath as he storms up to Wolter holding out the dagger, "we need to know now if that ship is going to attack us, ask its allegiance, no more and no less" He says sternly.
He then leans in closer
"I have seen my sisters death, don't make me forget my manners whilst I still ask this as a favor and not an order."
Wolter takes the disastrously looking dagger. The piercing dark thorns that engulf the handle give no chance of avoidance and slide through the flesh with incredible ease.

Then it starts, a numbing cold shoots up his arm like a lightning bolt, zapping through his veins.
Your stomach knots and twist as a deathly feeling off ill ease and a devilish concoction of vile mixed emotions resemblant of regret, sorrow and fear taunt him.
-2 to everything
As much as you dislike this you find your grip on the dagger tighter then before and you see the light glow of blood at the base of your fist but not nearly as much as would expect, (you get the idea it may be drinking your blood.) The dagger causes discomfort and feels like its creeping up the inside of your arm.
Then the dull tarnished silver of the wilted rose blossoms a bright red as the dagger seemingly comes to life. The crystal like eyeball encrusted in the base begins darting around.
"Wolter then hears a voice in his head that asks quite rudely spitting out the words in disgust. "Unworthy one what do you want from me?"
"Friend or foe, such a terrible question! Both yet none!.. hmm I shall show leniency this once, but shall take extra. Its an imperial ship with someone very important on board. They will spy for one more day then approach to find what you have lost. While they are not your friend they do not wish to harm you... Yet. "
The rose then dies the glowing stops and Wolter is drained of y exp
Wolter then gains y exp for the experience (first time only)
You cant seem to shake the horrible feeling. Your body aches and your mentally exhausted.
Wolter will look at the captain and throw the dagger down. "It is a imperial ship and seeks us no harm. There is a important person on board. Who I do not know. But this I tell you. Never again will I touch that foul dagger."
Wolter turns and heads down to his room. HE will not listen to any calls or questions asked of him as he goes down to his room. He will slam his door shut and sit on the other side of it with his back to the door. He will try to shake the feelings in his head.
