Feroz begins to wonder if maybe he had been to hasty with his response. Then again he doesn't really know this creep. He could be a spy for all Feroz knows. Feroz quickly formulates half a plan.
"You know I do have a lot of stories I did not tell you of. Some take place in the future others on worlds entirely different than this one. I could share them with you but like you said our time is short."
"Free us and I can tell you my grand stories later. They are quite good stories, it would be a shame really if I never got to share them."
Feroz waits patiently for the strange man to respond. Wondering how intelligent this vagabond is. Has he never heard of story books, maybe he can't read?
Feroz feels a slight moment of pity for the unkempt bard but quickly tucks the feeling away. There is no room for such emotions right now.
The man "um's" and "ahrs" for a while, you see him shifting uncomfrtably. "it is getting late I will be back tomorro night" he anounces in his shaky whispy voice and with that he waddles into the darkness.
Wolter will look over to you and watch the old man shamble away. HE will indicate that we move to the other end of the cage. Once there he will whisper that we may need to watch what we say for we do not know how far or how many of these speak rocks he may have enspelled. Wolter wonders out loud if this guy may be a spy intent on finding information out to save his own hide. Or to find out if any escape or attempted escape is being planned.
Feroz curses himself for asking the possible spy for freedom. Now the enemy will think I am attempting to escape.
*I haven't revealed my true self yet, I must be more careful*, Feroz thinks, quickly putting the though to the back of his mind. Tucking it away from any probable mind probers.
Feroz gives a nod to Wolter.
"What a picture we two are. You loosing your dogs and me loosing my spell book. Stuck, bound, and beaten is cages resting in filth. We are a couple of lucky winners we are!", Feroz has a good laugh.
"We must have this in our blood.", Feroz wonders what that means as drifts to sleep.

AS night falls the place dose not quiten, but the passerbys meerly change, a Drow or 2 has been spotted, Orcs roam more freely at night and the dark nocturnal races flow, occasionally you are awakened by an angry growl, a threat in an unknown language or by the sound of a fued ending as blood spills, the battles (if they do not just walk away) are always short and sweet and no one else dare get involved or hang around for too long incase it draws the attention of the guards.
Then there is a coughing from your rock and the old whispy voice whispers, "Iv'e decided to help you as long as you promise to help me, just let me know what I can do. We will discuss my payment when you are free."
"you must come up with the plan and I will aid if it is not too dangerous, I have access to resources and potions, but alas when free you will have to repay me for them. Tomoro night you will be taken to the pits to see who will become fighters, or toys for the necromancer. Some occasionally slip through and end up as servants or miners but it all depends how long it takes to quench the blood lust of the crowd. I suggest you escape before then."
As soon as the words finished leaving your mouth, clumps of bread start hailing into the cage (as if thrown)
the scattered pieces look to have come from a whole loaf, unfortunately not all of it is accesible and it has raised the attention of the other captured. Upon trying it you realize it is a special Elven bread, alot more filling and nutrious than normal bread also quite expensive.
"sorry about my aim, now whats the plan"
Wolter will explain to him that first off we need to get out of these cages as he eats the bread. Second we have to get our weapons and armor. Then we can make good out escape. As we get our weapons and armor you can get more supplies to see us for a few days.
