Shut Up And Sing (Hover)
Just a quick note, based on the picture.
Laura Ingraham wrote a book with this title in 2006. From the discussions about it I have heard, she was not trying to shut anyone up or take anyone's freedom of speech away. What she was trying to do was show that "Hollywood Elites" (the general entertainment industry) such as the Dixie Chicks, Oprah, Barbra Streisand, Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, etc. Belittle all conservative thought, politicians, and people in general. Yet, when the conservatives hold them accountable, they are "BAD, BAD, BAD."
You can see that in the picture for the film. George W. Bush is shown as if he wrote all those epithets on the Chicks. As far as I know, he never even acknowledged that they had done anything at all.
It was their fans. They, the fans, decided that Natalie Mains had crossed a line. Country music fans tend to be very conservative in politics, and don't want their entertainers disrespecting their country. So, the fans stopped buying their music, and threw away what they had.
I have not yet watched the documentary. It is on YouTube, so I may take the 40 minutes or so to watch it, just so I can see how the entertainment industry is going to try to blame President Bush, but I don't expect to find anything really worth the time or effort. It appears to me to be some more whiny leftist propaganda about how the Dixie Chicks should not be held responsible for their stupidity.
Name: Dixiehohum
Comments: OK so the Dixie girls want to say what they want and not be censored? Everyone loved the Dixie Chicks until they decided to rail on their fans by basically attacking all the Republicans through Bush. You can't just say what you want and expect everyone to just agree or see you the same.
