Rugged Gold
This is a fantastic movie, because it shows the power of love and family.
At first it seemed to start out slow and then built up to feel like a thriller, but in the end you become surprised with the turn of events that push the limits of human sanity.
I would strongly encourage women to see this film, especially if you find yourself constantly needing the comforts of life in order to be happy.

If this movie was not a true story, then it was rather predictable in many ways. Woman gets separated from her family in Alaska (due to earthquake) yet she over comes all odds to find her family and live. Since it is a true story, its well worth watching. Its really quite amazing that this woman did not lose her mind and just give up, she had no reason to believe that she would even wake up from day to day. Right now, its on the free movies section of comcasts on demand network. If you have it, check it out, its worth the watch. This makes me want to read the book, which Martha Martin actually wrote herself I believe. My wife wants to read it as well, so I have it on order from half.com. When she reads it, I will read it and give my review on that thread.
I am surprised that more people have not seen / reviewed this film. In my opinion it was a real motivator for people who feel they are easily overcome by the struggles of life.
Konquererz, when you do read the book I would like a comparison on how well the show captured it. I believe there is even more to her struggle during the winter that the movie does not show.
Rather off topic, but... For the book itself you may wish to open a new Thread in the Book Review Board if one has not been started already. |
