What are your thoughts about Deism? Do you see this point of view prevalent among humans today?

Deism encompasses a range of views on the nature of God, particularly on whether God intervenes in the world. The classical view is that the universe was created by a God who then makes no further intervention in its affairs (the clockmaker hypothesis). In this view, the reason God does not intervene in the world (via miracles) is not that God does not care, but rather that the best of all possible worlds has already been created and any intervention could not improve it.

Deism

My wife is a Deist, oddly enough. We have stark differences on our belief in God. A main theme with deists is that they definitely believe in a God, no question. They also don't believe that we can know God, that he is unknowable and above us. Their individual beliefs on the after life are ever changing and always different because deism doesn't require a specific belief one way or the other to be a Deist. My wife believes that the majority of people go to heaven because God loves us all. She believes that no book has ever been created that truly expresses Gods love or shows us any specific way to go about getting heaven, only mans created thoughts on paper. This is different from many deists who believe we simply go to dust, but again, deism allows for this kind of diversity in beliefs.
