Religion And Tithing

If a religion were to Lie to the congregatoin, for whatever reason, would that religion be worthy to receive the people's tithing money?

Interesting topic, but your question only leads to other questions that must be asked...

1. What gives a 'religion' the 'right' to ask for money?
2. Some religions are / may be built on lies, but can that stop a good congregation from doing a good thing if it is used for a wrong purpose in the end?

Offtopic but,

ok, then that brings up another question.....

If a religious leader lies to his/her congregation, [and the congregation believes they are paying for the truth}, and accepts tithing money from the people, is that religious leader stealing the tithing money from the people? smile.gif-->rolleyes.gif

We have not even answered the first set of questions yet, so your second question cannot be answered. Such things as, where the money goes, what is it being used for, etc. must first be considered because a religious leader may just be the voice for that day, but may not be the person that actually collects money or distributes it or is the reason for the congregation paying tithes, so if he lies or not has no weight on your subject.

I know from personal experience that when I pay tithes, I am not paying to the actual leader I meet on Sunday, but the Church as a body, I also know for what reason I am doing it, if the leader chooses to lie or be a lie has nothing to do with my paying tithes, understand?

Offtopic but,
Reply with your thoughts. Question on top of other questions does not make sense and the topic will be closed.

No. Because the money never really belonged to the people in the first place. It was God's from the start. He gives 100% to us and asks for 10% returned to him. So, if it was stolen, and I am not agreeing that it was, but if it was it was stolen from God.

Before one can answer if it was stolen from God, one needs to know what lies you mean. You might consider something a lie, that isn't really a lie, but just a tenet or precept or belief that you don't share. If the "pastor" takes the tithing and uses it for their own personal benefit only and does not use it to further the gospel then it is stealing in my opinion. Of course, we might not agree upon what is use to further the gospel.
