With the recent turn of events people are quick to point to one religion for war, but looking at history should we be so quick to point fingers? Predators using Religion to wage war and agression.

I meant the fact that the catholic Nazi's commited atrocities to Jews is a scary thought - with undertones of a holy cleansing.

I know what you meant but still don't understand the connection. Why must have undertones of a "holy cleansing" just because these guys were Catholic? I don't understand.

The truth is that I do not think there is a such a thing as the most violent religion, it just happens that certain violent people who are from certain religious groups commits atrocities. Can we blame their Religion really? Sometimes these people are fanatics and they make their own interpretations of what they think their Religion teaches them.

OK, forget the Nazi thing, I'm sorry if you don't get what I'm trying to say, it was a little out of topic.

I agree with you LDS that there are people of any religion who are just violent people in general - religion or no religion. I think that religion can become a label - a reason for people to blame when a religious person acts violently; whether the violence was based on religious belief or not.

This is increaingly happening with young muslim men who have been arrested on counts of terrorism or conspiring to cause terroroism; many people have been quick to point the finger at their faith in general, and the violent way in which some extreme factions of Islam preach hate and war. But it is also to do with the way these men see the Western world with dissolusion; they are taught to view our culture with hate - our consumerism and greed - which can lead to them harbouring feeling of hate - which is sometimes embodied through violence.

Although I wouldn't say Islam is the most violent. It's a hard question to answer - do you answer on numbers of people killed? Violent symbology? Depictions of violence in holy books?

This is just me personally, but I see violence that is actually carried out by hand as more violent. The beheadings that I have seen recently are extremely violent. The crusades must have been horrific. Using guns and bombs to kill from a distance is violent, yes, but to me it doesn't show the all out willingness to kill or the thirst for death. The bombs particularly seem to be more for show...the focus isn't really on those about to die but rather the spectical itself.

That's true, a bomb would be a spectical, but then a beheading can have just as much effect because of the sheer brutality of such an act. Beheading one person can cause as much of a media circus as a car bomb for example that kills many - I'm not in any way saying one is more condoneable than the other.

Comments: Hi, The most violent Religion? Hmmm, I know most commonly known National and International Religions all usually have their History of Blemishes from their Past, And, I can also understand that they most likely will because as the Bible says, We are all born Sinners because of Adam and Eve.And we all know about that story. So then, With all the Commonly known Religions of the world in one basket which is the most Violent? And I really hate to have to say this because basically, most of the commonly known religions of the world are "Peaceful" in their teachings, And I don't claim to be and expert in Religions, So I am just giving My opinion in this matter from what I've read and heard....Let me say firstly that I am not pointing my finger at the People per say although people are involved, Also I do realize there can be "DECENT" Loving people caught in a Bad Religion...So then for NOW, I would Venture to say "ISLAM IS THE MOST VIOLENT RELIGION" And here is why....(ISLAM HAS TWO FACES) And as far as I know, No other Religion Teaches: "LOVE" on one hand then "HATE" or Kill the "INFIDELS" on the other hand..."FROM THE SAME BOOK"!*note* ALL OTHER RELIGIONS WOULD FALL UNDER THE WORD "INFIDELS". This in my opinion makes "ISLAM" a Very Dangerous Religion for Obvious Reasons...Helper

Comments: All religions as we know it in our time is just instruments used to hold the masses under control. The concepts are created to preserve power. Just check how well the 7 deadly sins perfectly suits the rich... But, if you read the gospels about Jesus from a pantheistic angel, it really makes sense, doesn't it?
