Fear Of Dreaming

Have you ever had a fear of dreaming? I can remember several instances where I was afraid of dreaming. I was just wondering if anyone else had had any experiences with this and would care to share.

Dreaming Fear

When I was having trouble sleeping, I started taking a natural supplement called Melatonin. This helped me sleep well for the first week or two. After that, I started having really weird dreams that were often based on the last movie or book I was watching or reading that prior evening. This resulted in often very real yet very frightening dreams. I was told that you get over it after a couple weeks when your body adjusts. I don't have those dreams any more and I still take it. But for two weeks or so, I was really disturbed when I was tired enough to sleep. Nothing worse than waking up in a cold sweat with your heart beating a million miles a minute!

This isn't exactly the same thing but there are times when I start to fall asleep and become afraid to do so. I'm not sure if it has to do with falling asleep too quickly or being too tired but I feel as though if I let myself go to sleep, I will end up in some nightmare wasteland where there is no escape and I am doomed. I will force myself to wake up and then try to drift off again a little more peacefully. Sometimes this will happen two or three times before I can drift off peacefully. Does this happen to anyone else?

Yes Valla, it has happened to me too. I absolutely hate it, but I find myself fighting to stay awake just to stay away from "Nightmare Valley" as I call it. It sucks because I know it affects my health, but sometimes I just can not help it. sad.gif
