Gay or not to be gay? - Page 3

QUOTE
Is the church trying to set it's own laws and ways of life?  Is the church changing to fit the times?  Or are they trying to show tolerance?  I begin to wonder what kind of changes the church will go through now that they have done this

Without stepping on anyone's toes I would just merely like to point out that the Lord said, 'By their fruit, ye shall know them...' as to whom they follow... we shall know this too.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.  :)

Not to sound stupid, but I'm just confused.  I guess I am also somewhat slow when it comes to the meanings of some Bible passages.  What exactly does that mean?  Sorry, if I sound somewhat ignorant.   :-/  I just don't understand it.  It seems more like the church has a double standard to me.  It seems like what I was taught growing up in the church is nothing like the way things are now.  I understand the need for change to fit the times, but to go against what the church says is wrong is what I really find confusing.  Hence, so many questions.  So please over look my ignorance, just trying to understand.    ???

What I was trying to say in a nice way is that the decision shows that it was not inspired from God, because it is not a 'fruit' or action that Christ himself would direct to be implemented.

When you say the church you are referring to the Anglican church or Christian churches in general? Remember that the Lord said there was only one true Church... let me know if you want to know more and I will open a thread about it wink.gif

I guess mainly the religious denomination (sorry, I don't know how it's correctly spelled) where they voted for the guy to be a bishop.  I was born and raised Catholic.  I was always told that homosexuality was wrong and it's a sin.  So, this is where I get confused about how this particular church finds it to be ok for him to be an open homosexual, who is also in an active relationship with an other man for the past 13 years, and that he can be a bishop.  It just doesn't seem right to me.   ???  Am I wrong in thinking this way?

In my opinion, no. Of course there will be someone else who will think otherwise, but at the end of the day, whom do we please? God or man?

I understand that at the end of the day we only please God.  :)  Thanks for helping to clear a little of that up for me, Jb.  :)

[offtopic]Sorry about the double post.  I don't know what happened to it.  When I first went to post it, it was supposed to look like the second post.  I guess the storm coming in may have put my computer on the fritz.  :smile.gif[/offtopic]

No, you are not!!!. It doesn't make any sense! that's the whole thing about it. It goes against any principles taught in the Bible so why in the world are they doing this? I really would like an answer from them. :smile.gif

I wondered how long it would be before the other churches started to speak up about the priest, who is a homosexual and was voted in as a Bishop.  Unfortunately, I knew it would only be a matter of time before the same sex unions came up.  The article below talks of both the new Bishop and same sex unions.  I found this on MSNBC.com.

Anglican leader seeks unity after vote

Archbishop looks for healing after U.S. OK for gay bishop

The archbishop of Canterbury said Friday he would summon the world's Anglican leaders to try to restore unity following the confirmation of a U.S. Episcopal gay bishop, a move that outraged conservatives. Archbishop Rowan Williams said the meeting was planned for London in October, and invitations would be sent this week.
