excellent, excellent point. Then i couldn't quite say... it would be mor of a personal thing, wouldn't it? |
I agree with Historian Michael H. Hart's conclusion in his Book called "The 100" (greatest or most influential men in mankind's history) in which he names The Prophet Mohammed as the most inflential person in human history. Jesus Christ was No. 3. In Mr. Hart's words, There are two 'main' reasons for that decision:
First, Mohammed (PBUH) played a far more important role in the development of Islam than Jesus did in the development of Christianity. Mohammed (PBUH) was responsible for both the theology of Islam and its main ethical and moral principles and although Jesus was responsible for the main ethical and moral precepts of Christianity (insofar as these differed from Judaism), St. Paul was the main developer of Christian Theology, its principal proselytizer and the author of a very large part of the New Testament. Mohammed (PBUH) played a key role in proselyting the new faith and in establishing the religious practices of Islam.
According to Hart, St. Paul was the real founder of Christianity as it has been passed along today. Paul wrote 13 or 14 of the 27 Books of the New Testament. Jesus, the Christ wrote not a single word of the twenty-seven books. In fact, only 10% of the 27 Books of the New Testament contain what's left of Jesus' words.
In addition, Muslims now outnumber Christians in the world.
Islam is also the fastest growing religion today on the face of the earth as millions of unsatisfied or unfulfilled christians discover the many contradictions and errors in the many different versions of the Holy Bible.
Finally, Mr. Hart wrote "My Choice of Mohammed (PBUH) to lead the list of the world's most influential persons may surprise some readers and may be questioned by others, but he was the only man in history who was supremely successful on both the religious and secular levels."
In TIME, July 15, 1974 edition named Mohammed under its title Who were History's Great Leaders? Time surveyed a variety of historians, writers, military men, businessmen and others for their selections.
Several criteria were used to determine the results:
1. The leader must provide for the well-being of the led.
2. The leader or would be leader must provide a social organization in which people feel relatively secure.
3. This leader must provide his people with one set of beliefs..
By the way, Michael h. Hart is a Christian.
The Encyclopedia Britannica 11th Edition says
Mohammed was the most successful of all religious personalities.
George Bernard Shaw - "I have studied him - the wonderful man- and in my opinion, far from being an anti-christ, he must be called the saviour of humanity"
Yes, I think hands down, one cannot ignore the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), the 40th Direct Decendant of Ishmael, eldest son of Abraham as the man who has influenced the world the most in our history.
Who the heck is 'Teacher of Righteousness '?
I believe Jesus Christ has influenced mankind the most. If they acknowledge it as fact or not it does not matter, because only he has the power to save mankind, even the ones who have never heard of him or acknowledged him. This is of course my personal belief as a believer in Jesus Christ.
