I believe Jesus Christ has influenced mankind the most. If they acknowledge it as fact or not it does not matter, because only he has the power to save mankind, even the ones who have never heard of him or acknowledged him. This is of course my personal belief as a believer in Jesus Christ. |

Sadly, many people have twisted it in the name of "religion"... but I still feel he is most influential |
I think that Jesus Christ influenced mankind. He was born of man. Performed many miracles in his life and died on the cross to save us from sin. He rose from the dead three days later.
Jesus is my savior. Jesus was always there for me during the most difficult times in my life, just as he is with me during my good times. I am very thankful for the things that Jesus and God have blessed me with in my life. Even when I was lost for a time, Jesus helped me find my way back to him again.
This is really a difficult choice; as others have pointed out some things done in Christ's name aren't really influenced by him but someone else with an agenda so does that count as influence.
Also, how about the many schools and missions run by Catholic missionaries - even if the students didn't grow up to accept the religion they received an education which will affect their lives and the lives of their descendants. There are many other charitable acts that will influence people in ways other than their religious beliefs.
Out of the list I chose Jesus Christ because of not just the religious influence but the influence of early missionaries to colonize and educate many parts of the world.
If Abraham had been on the list instead of Moses I might have voted differently because his actions with the handmade Hagar laid the groundwork for the continuing hostilities in the Middle East - ie the argument over which is the true heir of the birthright.
However, not that it was asked: I think Gutenburg may have had the most "influence" on the world - because the ideas of the others represented would not have spread so easily without his invention.
A question, what is "rebuking" a fellow poster?
In my life it has been Jesus Christ.
However unfornate it is, he was not the most influential person in History... the poll taken by Time magazine lists the Top 10 for the last hundred years as:
1 Elvis Presley 13.73 625045
2 Yitzhak Rabin 13.17 599473
3 Adolf Hitler 11.36 516926
4 Billy Graham 10.35 471114
5 Albert Einstein 9.78 445218
6 Martin Luther King 8.40 382159
7 Pope John Paul II 8.18 372477
8 Gordon B. Hinckley 5.62 256077
9 Mohandas Gandhi 3.61 164281
10 Ronald Reagan 1.78 81368
Quite the list...
I would have to say the most influential person in history is probably Mohammed. More people live the faith he taught than follow Jesus.
I am not that professional of a poster, but i will give it a try.
I am thinking of putting a little twist on my answer here. I think the most influenction person would be Mary because without her we wouldn't have jesus, the one who touched so many of our hearts and whom we follow. She most indirectly influences me today because of our saviors actions.
I just though i'd mix things up a bit and bring a new idea in but ultimately i think the greatest influence would be Christ.
This question is interesting to say the least. To be sure, in the last two thousand years, Jesus Christ has probably made the most difference, but what about the 6 thousand years prior to that? I think perhaps.......Abraham was the most influential. Abraham is considered the father of the Muslims and the Jews and Christians hold Abraham in high regard since he is the father of the Jews. Jesus is from the Jews so Abraham contributed greatly to his lineage also. Mohammed was an Arab, so Abraham contributed greatly to his lineage also. The two larges religions in the world, Christianity and Islam, can trace roots and references back to Abraham. Being the religion greatly influences most of the peoples of the world, Abraham remains the single most influential man in history. Had he not listened to God, the world would not be the same.
