What Is The Minimum To Being Saved?

What is the minimum to being saved? I've done a lot of research on this and it seems that it takes quite a bit! Did you know that just by believing in Jesus is not enough to get you into heaven? Remember, even the devil and his demons believe in Jesus...they tremble with fear around him! So, that tells you that it's not enough to just say you believe in him. You must believe in him with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. Everything you do in your life must glorify him and when we don't (hopefully not willfully), we need to ask for forgiveness and repent.

The Apostle Paul says we are in a race and we are to run with the intent to win it. That would mean to give it all we've got.

My question to you is what are the minimal requirements to get into heaven? Tell me what you believe and don't leave anything out.

Saved To Minimum The What

This is a GREAT topic very, and I wish I could say more on it, and I probably will add more to it later on.

But I will say this much, that you live your life by the commandments. Being baptized and trying as best as you can to live in God's way.

What Is The Minimum To Being Saved? Beliefs Religious General

I think that when you put it like that, "whats the minimum" to be saved, that sounds like "whats the least I can do and still go to heaven."

Also, you mentioned asking God for forgiveness. Didnt Christ already forgive us for past, present, and future sins when we asked him in our heart? So why do believers still ask for forgiveness when He has already forgiven us so many times?

Saved To Minimum The What

I believe that you must not only believe in Jesus Christ, but believe that he is your redeemer or Savior. You must believe that without his atonement for your sins, you could never on your own be worthy to enter "heaven."

I believe we are forgiven only when we truly repent and ask to be forgiven. He will forgive us our sins, but I don't think it is automatic. For example, I will watch my grandson any time my son asks me to, unless I have already made other plans. He knows this, but he still must ask me. This is true even if I am already in my pajamas lying on the couch watching TV. It may be obvious that I don't have plans, but I still expect him to ask me if I will watch his son not just leave the house because he knows I will do it. Do you know what I mean?

While, I don't think it is necessary to ask to be forgiven through someone else, and I don't think you need to say a few certain prayers, etc., to be forgiven, but these things sometimes help us as people to come to really understand and believe we have been forgiven.

Also, my religious beliefs are that there are differing levels in heaven or degrees of glory and each has a different set of requirements. I don't believe that someone who is barely keeping the "minimum requirements" will be rewarded exactly the same way as someone who is truly striving to live all of the commandments. It wouldn't be fair and I believe in a fair loving Father in Heaven.

Saved To Minimum The What

Our faith believes that true forgiveness can come only after true repentance -- which means feeling true remorse for what you've done, forsaking the sin (don't ever do it again), and - where possible - making amends to anyone you have sinned against. That's a pretty tall order for a lot of us! I don't think we are automatically forgiven for "future" sins -- if we haven't done it yet, how can we repent of it and make amends?

If all you are looking for is to "get into" heaven, then I'm sure just the basics will do: repent, forgive others, obey the commandments, and show compassion, love, and charity to others. But there are other scriptures which say "faith without works is dead" or something to that effect. You can't just have faith - you have to act on that faith. There are other levels of heaven which bring greater glory to those more dedicated to Christ, or perhaps understand the principles better and so live them more fully.

We must strive to live as completely as we can in the circle of the Gospel as we understand it. We are all responsible for our own salvation.

In my opinion, of course.

What Is The Minimum To Being Saved?

Acording to "Act 16:30-31" all i have to do is believe n the lord and live my life and i be saved... Not that i will do that, but if it says n the bible then who am i to judge that ?

"Act 16:30-31 And leading them outside, he said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved, and your household."

If you read James 2 you will see that Faith is an important part of Salvation but definetly NOT the only requirement. You can read the whole Chapter 2 but I will quote specifically the verses about this thread.

4" What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,

16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?

26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

What The Minimum To Saved General Religious Beliefs

veryloudsygirl,

You are right! To this I might add

"And anyone who trusts in the Lord will never be put to shame." rom 9:33

"For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." rom 10:10

I would love to show you why there is every reason to understand that God wants to save you by faith, a faith apart from works.
