Birth Control and Religion

What does your religion say about the use of birth control?

From Deseret News:

BIRTH CONTROL IS A COMPLEX ISSUE
The intersection of religion and sex has long made humans squirm. So it's no
wonder that birth control -- when or whether to practice it, what kinds of birth
control are acceptable -- continues to perplex people of faith.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints disagree the use of any method of birth control, I don't have the quotes here with me but the Prophets have been very strong in condemn this practice.

The Catholic Church does not allow it, i'm assuming because it can lead to an early abortion. Only recently I realised that the pill may not actually prevent you from becoming pregnant but it does prevent implantation that will undoubtedly terminate pregnancy.

Here is another thing to consider, the right for those in the medical field to chose if they will perform or not an abortion. I think peoples culture, beliefs and moral values should always be given the freedom of expression especially in this case, if they are not working in an abortion clinic. However, if it is a life and death situation and the person only has minutes to live I would not like some doctor or nurse to start debating over morals while death is getting closer for the mother. So I think clear procedures will have to be set.

Wisconsin Legislature to Debate Conscience Clause Legislation

Madison, WI -- Tomorrow, the Wisconsin General Assembly will
debate Assembly Bill 67, authored by Rep. Jean Hundertmark. The
Hundertmark measure contains the most comprehensive conscience
rights protections for health care providers ever considered by
the State Legislature.

Building on current law, AB 67 is a forward looking proposal that
would protect the conscience rights of those health care
providers who refuse, for moral or religions reasons, to
participate in activities related to abortion, assisted suicide,
euthanasia and unethical research that willfully destroys human
life.

"Wisconsin Right to Life believes it is unconscionable to force
health care providers to engage in these activities," said Susan
Armacost, Legislative Director for Wisconsin Right to Life.
"Assembly Bill 67 does not prohibit any of these activities.
Rather, it provides doctors, nurses, medical students, lab
technicians and others, who object to the taking of human life,
to be protected from employment discrimination and from
professional or civil penalties."

Assembly Bill 67 has widespread support among medical
professionals and in both houses of the legislature.
